Just get a used Thomas or Gast air pump and suck out all the water. Put the suck line where a drain would be and drill a small vent up top. I did this, it took three days in the summer to evaporate all the water. I also found all the leaks and sealed them until the hull would hold some vacuum.
The bottom price of an old ski is whatever a kid that wants a ski is willing to pay. Problem is that its usually too much considering the condition of whats out there today. Old skis are great deals only when they are in great condition. Its getting difficult to find a cheap way to get anything...
The 92 and 93 had slightly different graphics. The early 92s had VERY thin piston skirts that would easily break. They also had a CDI with no rev limiter and no retard curve, its the box marked 3729, if you find one throw it away. 93s had heavier pistons and the 3733 CDI which made the engine...
Hotter ignitions also need better insulation on the high tension side. Its easier to have salt water gremlins if everything is less than perfect. I wonder if those $50 model airplane ignitions will work on a ski.
I see in your description that the carbs have been bored. Thats your problem. You may need stock flame arrestors to some fuel draw back that the hatchet job killed.
You can check it as often as you like but unlikely to find much change as everything is metal to metal except the base gasket. Its the stock fiber head and pipe gasket that need a re-torque after a good heat soak because they do crush.
It all depends on what you expect from throttle response and if you are willing to tune the pump. Higher ports make more power on the pipe and less below. Adjust the pump accordingly and you will probably find happiness. Unless you are spastic with the throttle.
A running 650sx is a good ski if its dirt cheap and if you have no performance expectations. Almost all old skis are in junk condition (even Superjets!) so concentrate on finding the very best one you can afford regardless of what it is.
