Custom/Hybrid Benefits to an extended steering nozzle in surf? Pros and cons?

I have a Sato Engineering trim system on my ski and was wondering if the extended steering nozzle is helping or hurting my steering throw? It's only something like 40mm longer.

I plan to do some more grinding to get more right hand throw and wondered if I should take some length off at the same time.?.?.?

i think a longer nozzle gives the "impression" of more steering, the only way you get more throw and quicker steering is where the steering cable attachs, ie, closer to the nozzle = more throw

i would think it would help direct the water faster but its not gonna give it more throw unless the steering cable is closer to the nozzle

I had the complete opposite experience with the Blowsion turn nozzle. We ended up cutting it to match stock length.

It depends on your setup as to whether you'll like it or not. I didn't think it gave me quicker steering but you do get more steering authority with it and that makes it a little more responsive. This will make it either more predictable or less predictable depending on what you want. This is because it moves your point of thrust further backwards which will give the same thrust more leverage to turn the ski. It'd be like moving the front wheels of your car to the far front corners. Same movements, same linkages but because the tires are in a different place, the handling will change.

I personally like the longer nozzles because my steering input is immediately noticeable but that's just me. Hope this helps...

Anyone have any experiences with running an extended nozzle in the surf? Better or worse?

I may have to swap on an old reduction nozzle in before cutting up my SE one...

I dont think that it gives you more degrees of throw at all because making a radius bigger doesn't change the degrees at all. Although, the outside of a spinning wheel does spin faster than the hub. If you have the same control/quick steering when the longer nozzle is in use, I would say it is benefical but more succeptable to damage.
