    1L Motors

If you're talking about basing it on a Yamaha 701 bottom end: Designed to 1L: www.adaracing.com (989cc, bigger with bigger stroke) Some builders get close to that with Lamey cylinders. Lately a few have done it starting with the Yamaha GP800 motors since the stock stroke of a GP800...

Yamaha part numbering system, is there any reasoning

When they actually are the same exact part, they will have the same part number. Take a look at 90-95 SJ stator assemblies. They are the same exact part number as the stator assembly for a 1995 Wave Blaster. I think that in your example, these two parts are actually different in that the...

Big bore? Stroker? Lamey? ADA? Protec? Help

The cylinder is only a small part of the equation. What you really need is to wisely choose a builder to do their magic on your chunk of metal of choice. The ADA, Lamey, and even OEM cylinders can make tremendous power when the right work is done to them and when the right combination of parts...

Do you think I should come to SFF?

Although I haven't been to a ride, nor am I able to come to this one, keep in mind that there are a lot of guys in this sport that don't get plastered and incoherent and really love troubleshooting and building. I know Charlie (sflsurfrider, dare I say that around here) always loves to help. I...

    Getting rid of XM?

I drive to Florida a lot (and now Alabama too) ans love XM (my friend has Sirius and it is also good). The cost isn't too bad and you get commercial-free music. I flip between Ethel (alternative), Sqizz (heavy alternative), and the comedy channels. I tried to get into O&A, but just...

    Happy Early REV-day To Me

Nice hulls. Are you doing the ADA cylinder work yourself, or having someone else build it?

    BUILDING A XFT 6mm Lamey in 1wk.

Ha Ha Ha Charles. Those XFTs definitely are beauties and are super light. I rode Charles's Jetworks ADA motor in a lead-weight OEM hull and then the same motor in his XFT. Incredible difference shedding 70+ pounds can make (power to weight ratio).

Why is my FX1 so loud?

You may also want to replace the pump seal (Yamaha calls this packing) that goes between the pump and shoe. 10+ years of being compressed and possibly repeatedly removed and reinstalled can wear these out (stay compressed to the point where they don't fill the gap adequately).

    Whats wrong with my coupler???

Take a look in the SJ manual if you have one. If you take out your midshaft assembly and measure the protrusion of the rear of the shaft, it should be around 20-23mm. I would hope that you find that yours is sticking out a bit more. Then, using a brass or soft face hammer, tap yours in until...

    24/7

They are listed in the 2007 Hot Products catalog and I saw Mark send a box of 50 to Hot Products about three months ago, so I would expect Hot Products to have them in stock.

jetski solutions or hydro turf hood seal?

While I love John's (JSS) attention to detail and super-high quality of work, I have to recommend neither of your two choices and state to use teh OEM hood seal. The JSS hood seal requires you to have a perfectly flat match between your hood and hull, which is very difficult and unlikely to...

Jet Hot Coatings Never do Business with

Nice. Post some pictures after you install it (in a separate thread). Be careful though as your carb(s) vibrate quite a bit (easily up to +/- 0.5") and they may end up hitting the aluminum tube.

Jet Hot Coatings Never do Business with

I really don't think that it would be working better due to increased temperature contained within the chamber or headpipe. Perhaps, an auxillary effect of the coating is that it fills in all of the casting pits in the headpipe, manifold runners, and imperfections in the chamber, making the...
