Jet Hot Coatings Never do Business with

Just looks and saltwater protection. The whole temperature insulating thing is irrelevant at the power levels that skis make. The only place where that is has really noticeable performance benefits (that can be felt) is in 3000+hp nitro or alcohol cars.

Nothing. I think people were discussing tape with respect to masking off mating surfaces and the like.

They can, but that takes extra time and breaks away from their standard process, which would definitely mean more money to charge you. Additionally, after the coating is done, removal of the tape (unless meticulously done) would leave residue (boogers, as 63chevyII said) that would turn to...

The other coaters also coat everything. Like I mentioned above, assume that they will just take and blast and coat everything that is exposed. I had the same experience with my haedpipe and manifold mating surfaces. They were too smooth and I could not tighten enough to seal. I had to sand...

Factory B - How do you stop it from rubbing

Put a piece of turf between it and the wall (or in some cases, they rub on teh front of the motor mount). I bought a ski that had a 1" piece of Hydroturf underlay between the chamber and front motor mount portion of the bedplate. If there is less than about a 1/4" gap anywhere, you can be...

I assume you mean the water adjustment screws on a B headpipe? In the future (or to anyone else), when you send these parts to coaters, assume that they just know how to tkae the part, blast it, and coat it (not disassemble it). Even with A-1, they told me to remove any extra parts. On the...

I've had many things done there too as has Pat Bogart.

What is the electrical box made of

It is aluminum. It is likely to get close to the melting point. If they are aware of this when processing it, you should be OK. It is thick enough to hold its shape, as long as they don't treat it in the same manner as regular steel. I had a few ebox backs done by A-1 Ceramacoat in...

gettin ahold of the new 24-7

Why don't you call him first and try to get it worked out rather than complain and tell us that you're going to call him. I, Powder, and IHOP all spoke with him in the past two days. He's readily available. Instead of wasting bandwidth here, PM him at pwctoday.

    Advice?

Congrats onthe 550. I have Superjets, but when I am n California (were I spend a lot of time for work) I really enjoy riding my co-workers 550 onthe weekends. It's really snappy and responsive(he also has a Kawi 650, but I like the 550 better). Usually, fior a smaller/lighter person...

    Scarb sj build/dyno run

That's just about what I thought your motor would do. That's not to shabby either. The thing to consider is that you have most of the major mods and key aftermarket components. Don't go crazy trying to see another 10hp from this motor. As you may be aware, the higher you go in horsepower...

    Scarb sj build/dyno run

Can you explain what you mean by stating that it is not to be used with internal combustion engines? This equation is what is used to calculate horsepower on dyno runs. On the dyno run, torque is what is directly measured, not horsepower. Horsepower is calculated from torque (with this...

    can you ship a blaster?

Forward Air (www.forwardair.com) has premade metal shipping containers for motorcycles that a Blaster will fit into. I've used them for a SJ in the past.

    Scarb sj build/dyno run

Not sure how HE arrived at that, but since the equation that Matt_E gave is linear and involves a proportionality constant AND hp and torque are on opposite sides of the equation, there will be some number at which they are equal. Move torque to the left side of the equation (by dividing both...

    What plug to use?

I didn't see anyone point out that the HS tip will not even stick out through the thickness of the ADA head. It will still run, but you'll get better performance with the ES because the tip is in the combustion chamber. I also agree with crammit442 that the heat range has no impact on starting.

I'm also anxious to hear the results. I've never had the opportunity to dyno my motors, but would like to get an idea where mine stand. I've heard claims of these 701-based motors making 200+hp. Here's a thread with a Jr. Magoo (now LPW) motor claiming 159hp...

    blowsion shipping????

If you need to have it by this weekend and have a Kawi dealer around, that three-holed headpipe gasket is from a 650 SX/X2/etc. They may have one in stock.

    sj electrical box removal

If you can remove the front panel in your tray, there wil be four bolts olding the two mounts on that you can access. I don't think penetrating oil will help much because it is not rust (iron oxide corrosion), but rather aluminum to stinless bonding. Heat (propane or MAPP torch) would...

    help finding rad registration #

One thing to keep in mind, although it is only my opinion, your numbers' stying should match the degree of "radness" of the rest of your ski, otherwise they will really stand out like a sore thumb. If you don't have super-duper rad graphics overall and you have only straight lines on...
