The reason he says dont make it more than 45 degrees is because on a single lump flywheel its a long time till it sees the lump again and this puts in an error. In a two lump flywheel the next lump is only 180 degrees away and so the ignition is working of a finer resolution and the timing is...
You dont set your flywheel for a certain static angle you set your ignition for the flywheels static angle. I would go with about 50 as it gives you a heap of available advance if you need some more.
I have looked at the fx1 to make parts for as I have two of these things and its by far my favorite ski ever. I just don't see there being enough of a market to get my investment back
I would think we all need to email Yamaha asking where the new superjet is. Let them know its going to turn into sales. The ski is ready to go as far as I heard but they are looking at dwindling sales for the sxr. MY thoughts are the sxr has small sales because we are all waiting for the new...
Let me explain it. By retarding the ignition your put more heat into the pipe and this makes it run hotter. think about factory pipe playing with water injection. The hotter the pipe the faster the wave and this means it works for a high rpm. Its like vetec for two strokes
here is the easy way. you hook it up and see where its firing. If you have it back to front it will pick up from the wrong end of the lump and you will be about 25 degrees out. so you will have a silly static angle of about 25 or s degrees and you will not be sure why
You really need a det counter for this to check it. The curve I wrote was one for zeeltronic to be safe and reliable on all ignitions sold. You may/will get more by playing with it. The big gains are there on the curve I wrote with out having to stress about detonation.
With out the third lump.
You need to take the 3rd lump off at this stage to make it work. I did draw a flywheel and send the drawing to Borut so he can change it so you dont need to remove the lump. you can just switch it between 2 and 3. im not sure where he got to on that
The curve I wrote will work fine on pump gas. I made it like that on purpose. Its a pretty tough curve you can change it if you like but i dont really see the need to
