What impeller for 62T Limited SJ?

A Concord 13-17 will make throttling smooth but is a little too much load for max thrust, the Impros mod works well. Ive only tried a 10/16 hooker and it was a little too much for the mod chamber.

    Boring 62t nozzle

Not yet, too many hours at work and cold water keeping me away from testing. First (and soon) will be a complete test of the WW cone with a protec 61x style nozzle. The 155 conversion may be late summer at this pace.

    home made waterbox

You may run out of room for a good three chamber box. A good two chamber can be almost as quiet as a three. One of the best examples is the old 580-720 Seadoo box. It would be better to modify an existing tubular box than making one from flat sheets because they will fatigue very quickly unless...

Now for some billet DYNO Porn

Every ski has its own built in dyno. All that matters is thrust and all thats needed to measure it is a pitot tube and pressure gauge. Anyone can build a 100% accurate static thrust measuring device for lass than $100. The problem with numbers is that no consumers can verify them, it becomes a...

    Is Carbon Really Better?

Our hulls put load most of the load on the resin instead of the fiber. This is where composites are weakest. Carbon weighs 50% less than glass and is slightly better in shear. So a carbon laminate is lighter and stronger for a given thickness, but is also very expensive. Hulls become too fragile...

Why you should Vent your ski before hitting Start- BOOOOOOM!!!(Raider Explosion)

I wish Yamaha installed a blowout door on their standup like Kawasaki does. The poor workmanship that caused the explosion is all too common in motorsports. It seems like all mechanics are total dipsh!ts anymore.

    i need noise

A different type of noise requires a different type of engine. The pitch will change with the diameter of the outlet pipe.

    828 stroker with 550 resonator??

All rec pipes are designed to be pump gas safe. Adding a little restriction after the pipe makes more power but also increases octane requirements. At least you will know why your pistons melted.

    FX-1 650sx pump in FX-1 impeller / Prop

The greatest weakness of any pump, especially smaller pumps will show when riding out of a landing or tail stand. Second generation pointy hub and swirl props work much better in this condition. Older props struggle more out of the hole but are fine once the boat is moving provided a good grate...

    lightswitch power

The Yamaha 650 has very low transfers, just raise the whole cylinder and cut the head to regain compression. This will smooth out the pipe. You are not going to get rid of the pipe surge without hurting performance somewhere else. I tested several SJs on my thrust meter, all with pipes. There...

    lightswitch power

That is the way all good running skis are. Probably the easiest way to soften up the power is by simply using two base gaskets. This will make the throttle response more lazy but will smooth out the pipe. The carb will need to be richened considerably.

    Exhaust question

The size of the outlet does not matter as long as a waterbox is used. Yamaha made the pipe larger for looks and to lower the pitch of the exhaust note.

    61x bottom w/760 top end ???'s

A stock 760 cylinder will run fine as long as its not overpropped. The slight lag in throttle response you get with higher port cylinders are not much of an issue for blasters. Make sure it turns close to 7000 rpm and you will be very happy. A ported cylinder should make around 10 more HP with...

    Westcoast Head

Install it just like a stock head. Make sure to use a 61X gasket or drill holes in a 62T to match the head. I use one of the large inner fittings on top of the head. Run one line from head to pipe then splice a large pisser in the headpipe to stinger line with a .100" restrictor at the stinger.
