    Tubbies?

Tubbie IIs can be annoying on smooth water if they are mounted too low. Mount them a little higher if you are small, have a short pole, or long rideplate.

Another useless foam ( FYI ) tid bit

I tested several types of Stepanfoam when I worked in an aerospace materials lab. I could not get any of it to gain more than 1% after ten days under 1 foot of water. Surfboard builders use this mil-spec quality foam. Yamaha used cheap shipping foam.

    best exh manifold for x2

The stock 93-95 X2 manifolds are the same internally as a stock SXR which are about the same as most aftermarket 650 manifolds. The only two that stand out are the Jetsport and Westcoast. It doesn't matter for a 650 anyway.

anybody seen this pipe in a sxr ?

I found a new 650 manifold that is finned and has the Factory pipe logo etched into it. It looks like a Mariner, they apparently made parts for each other in the early nineties. I have ads for 750sx Mariner pipes that are polished FPP pipes.

    SX/SXi/SXi Pro Skat Trac Seal

Thats an OEM prop seal. They dont fit skat or solas props without machining. The skat prop shown uses an O-ring for a seal. It does a piss poor job of keeping water out, it also tends to shift out of position on fast skis. Its very important that the splines are clean and greased if they are to...

    Boring 62t nozzle

I did, the static thrust follows rpm to about 300lbs then the pipe hits and it jumps to 500. At this point your about half throttle with a pair of 46s, three fourths throttle with 38s. The thrust stalls at 600 while the engine will rev a little more. Im working on a 155 conversion to see if I...

    another question. vent lines?

The tank vent hose will get some water in it if you sub the ski or even turn it upside down in the water. The seperator is air/water not fuel/water, it catches the water before it gets to the tank. It is common for fuel to get pushed up into it from sloshing and venting.

    Making a pipe chamber

The only epoxy that will work needs to have a glass transition well over 250. There are some high temp tooling resins available that are very similar to 350 aircraft resins. Trying to copy an FP chamber is more difficult because the flat parts need reinforcement and more of the load is placed on...

Not your typical Mikuni 38 mod

If you don't sub the ski then get some free flowing flame arrestors and work on tuning the carbs. If you do sub the ski then use the stock flame arrestor and learn to tune. From there, get a tach and learn how to tune your pump. You will never be able to overcome the power loss from having too...

    another question. vent lines?

One vent line is for the tank and the other is for the battery. The little plastic capsule with tiny holes keeps water out of the vent line unless you sub it deep. The water seperator in the hull does a good job but must be emptied often. If you like to sub then check the bottom of the tank for...

What does a power valve do again?

Part throttle fuel economy will be good if the engine stays in a clean two-cycle below the pipe, like stock carbs are set. High popoff pressure will usually do it but will reduce throttle response at some point. The best response setting almost always require the engine to be four-cycling below...

    Boring 62t nozzle

Run it the way it is. My thrust meter showed no difference between an 85mm 62T and 85mm 61X, 600 lbs is all you get.

What does a power valve do again?

Exhaust valves make a huge difference on anything that is tied to the ground, except a snowmobile. They help heavy overproped sitdowns get out of the hole better. A freestyle ski is one application where they have the least bennefit, unless its overproped. Linear power? not with giant carbs and...

    Weighing up crank(cases)

If you are making 150HP then stop messing with the engine and start working on a pump that can convert it to thrust. A 144 will not hold that much power in a slow moving standup because the inlet pressure drops too low.

Crank seal Oil In cover do I need to worry ??

That looks just like every front seal that Ive ever seen. How old is your engine and how is it modified? OEM seals will usually last as long as the top end but with calender time also factored in. Everyone in my area can usually get 3 seasons before maintenance problems show up. So either run it...

Not your typical Mikuni 38 mod

Modding a 38 is seldom a good idea. At best you get very little. At worst you get to go through the entire tuning process only to burn a piston because one venturi was slightly larger than the other.
