Most people don't use trim in the surf so id say not to run it. Plus you run the risk of damaging it in the surf if you like to rip around in shallow water. Also, using trim in the surf to flip will kill some height while assisting in over rotation and landing flat, which is hard on the engine...

Those are the best footholds you can get. You'll just want to remove the turf and repad them i recommend using 2 layers of 10mm padding because its softer and conforms to the curve easier for better adhesion. Then shape it to fit your foot. You can add some molded diamond after you shape it...

You dont want to go that low on the other impeller. The hooker is a big hub impeller which takes up volume adding more load on the pump..which is why you can go lower on the leading edge. Id try that skat 16.

It sounds like your starter is going bad or has already failed. I used to take them apart and basically clean the commutator which is what the brushes contact send the power with some fine sand paper. They're pretty easy to go through.

The stubby cone will increase the volume while reducing pressure at the back of the pump. This will loosen the pump a little as well. I have also seen them hurt performance if the impeller is low enough already. It is similar to boring the nozzle.
