    your cap looks sealed shut so the previous owner probably did away with the fuse too. on the solenoid, connect the brown to + and the black to -

    no, thats your regulator/rectifier. the fuse is an inline fuse housed in a black rubber casing. its in the small red wire coming off the solenoid. just put 12vdc dirctly to the 2 small wires on the solenoid and see if it clicks.

    right, because youre bypassing it. the fuse 'should' be behind the cap on the front of the e-box. some people remove it and the holder altogether.

    if youre bridging the brown/red from the box and its not starting, but just sparking, it sounds like it could be the solenoid. you should be getting 12vdc at the 2 small wires on the solenoid when the start button is pressed. if you are, its toast. did you check your fuse?

    i understand that. but if the engine didnt look like ass, it wouldnt have given him an easy "out". im sure he wouldve found another reason to back out though.

    hitting turf with a mallet will make it more flexible? thats news to me. are you sure youre not thinking of tenderizing a slab of beef? :haha: heat makes the turf flexible. a heatgun, hairdryer or the sun will work. i never heard of a mallet doing that though. :dunno:

    biaxial is clothy one side and stringy on the other. stringy side goes down.

    if this is on your x2 and your hood is stock, its probably just that youre completely choking out the engine from the submerged air passages on the hood.
