its the same difference. metal will corrode over time- less if you don't care for it. the plastic will last unless you abuse it with sand and debris. the initial price is only a few bucks different but the second go is 40 or less.

are you sure you have the brackets in the right spots? I think they are front and rear only. are you saying it hits the bracket that holds the rubber mount or is it hitting the head?

wrong side- exhaust side is beefy, intake side is weak. front, rear and intake side is where it will crack. thus the half girdle or full girdle set ups.
