Yea it is the stinking developers that should be taken to court for adding every possible imaginable thing that can run in the background to any stupid little app they create. I send a LOT of email complaints on behalf of customers.

And myself...just sent one to this talking dog thing we bought the baby. You can USB it and change what it says blah blah blah......
well they see fit to add themselves in to my SERVICES!!!! Thats right..not MSCONFIG....SERVICES...and on AUTO!!! Dirtbags!

Ya I'm not down with Googles OS philosophy at all.

I think it will have a rough time.

Your XP install was probably old and tired. After a few years of regular use they get that way. A fresh install (or system recovery) of the XP would make it run like it was new. The reason Win 7 runs fast is "freshness".

Imagine how your ski would run if you hadn't changed the spark plugs since XP was installed on your system.

nah that was even with fresh installs
been there a few times over the years.
and knocked everything out of the start up menu's in config too. i just think with 3 sevice packs and hundreds of hot fixes etc it was just muddied

i really think 7 utilizes cpu cycles more effeciently or someting , but maybe after a few yrs of patches and service packs and add ons that will change????

and the good thing is a lot of the stuff she was running wont run on 7 woo hoo!!

granted this is a back up pc
my mains are all macs i still think snow leopard has win 7 beat

but i think win 7 is prolly the best thing ms has done since 98

This is my opinion. PC’s are like anything else.
Web browsing and email are the most used applications worldwide. A simple NETbook can take care of this easily at $200 and with a battery life in the hours. Most of my clients want a super system that, as they put it, “I can do everything on it”; however all they do is web browsing, email and doc editing. When buying a PC you have to ask the same questions as if you were buying a car. (sort of) You are not going to walk into a dealership and say “I want a V8 Hemi engine, 4x4 full Bed, 2 ton Truck that will handle everything”

Do you need the power? Are you towing or hauling stuff? Do you go to the snow or do some wheeling? If the answers are NO, they why in the hell are you spending all that money in a Truck that will be used at 10% of its capabilities?

I hope the analogy makes sense to some of you.

Note: The full Windows 7 OS retails at the same price you can buy a NETbook today.

The Google OS will be Revolutionary and I am quite excited about it. This OS will meet the simple needs of MOST users nowadays. Very simple, straight forward, Fast, Roaming (lives in the cloud) longer battery life, NO VIRUSES, etc, etc…and LOWER the prices of NETbooks even further !!!

I believe access to the Internet and its vast pool of knowledge should be the Main Goal, and technology should help accomplish that goal seamlessly. People that could never afford a PC before will have a chance to buy a NETbook now and have the world in their hands….yes the world.

Who couldn't afford to buy a PC...LMAO!!!

Even my broke arse rent a center neighbor has 2!

I am excited to see how cloud works in the real world too but I can make a XP machine boot and get on the net pretty fast! Which is one of their marketing points.

I'm gonna reboot and get back on right now and time it. LOL.
I gotta know.

Good way of putting it in layman's terms.

I guess gamers fit into their own breed.

Matt, I clocked reboots at 50 seconds on my computer with the XP stock. And you're not a layman. :lmao:

Sweet...just did 50 seconds here as well...and maybe 10 more to open chrome and 4 tabs at once. That is longer than I thought...but tolerable.

Netbooks are good for little. Think of them as you would a moped. Good for putting around town and taking you the few miles to and from work, but not much else beyond that.

If you want to do anything beyond putting around, you need to get a real computer. Many netbooks don't even have disk drives.

EDIT: Wish I knew what that environmental fee is about...

For about $100 more, I can build a top of the line system.

A person can find 99 to 199 dollar complete desktops (used of course) delivered and installed. And pretty nice ones....at least the ones I sell.

I can't imagine not being able to find a nice clean used desktop pretty much anywhere these days.

I used to sell used PC....Frankenstein Kits.
Not anymore.....too many issues that customers blame me for it afterward. Even with brand new Barebone kits that I put together....LOL!

Client: "OMG! My wedding pictures are in there !!!"
Me: "You did not get the memo? You need to back up your data...ALWAYS!"

Actually I do not build systems anymore....too many headaches!
I rather sent the customer to a reputable PC manufacturer and I do the support if they ever need it afterward......

Thanks to Malware and stuff braking down all the time.....I am quite busy :)

The bottleneck is the memory and data drive....not only the developers side.

I find it hard to believe they will unleash that chip (waste IMO cuz current CPU's are not even close to being the slow part of computing) in a crapple...it is a very small percentage of the global market.

ive been running 7 for about 3 weeks now.....been perfect other than on occaison when I boot up in the AM the computer does into a 'chkdsk' function.......not sure why
