@bikerdave (Dave brochurski from CT) (rad dudes) is welding up some 3.5 gallon aluminum tanks that incorporate a battery tray. I'd look into one of those. You wouldn't have to mess around with your battery behind your b pipe anymore and that could be beneficial.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the water flow into the cylinder through the exhaust manifold? If that piece is cracked its gonna leak water big time... That's the whole seal to the water jackets!

Its not gonna make much of a difference than having your 44 set up properly.
Buy a pop off tester and put a 2.0 needle and seat in your 44. Set the pop off to 20 lbs.
Buy a 120-125 low jet, and a 147.5 main jet and dial your screws in perfect. It will run the way its supposed to.

An old fuel tank has a lot of vapor. I would not suggest going near it with a heat gun.
Yeah it does work on dirtbike fenders where they bend and turn white, or on chalky black steering nozzle, but a fuel tank will explode lol!!
I don't know how you prime your fuel lines when they are totally dry(when you remove the lines, or if the ski sits) but I hold start and stop and crank it. Sometimes doing so will put a lil too much fuel in the chamber and boom..... A small backfire can happen. Fuel vapor going out the exhaust...

A ski will "backfire" when it dumps too much fuel. maybe a slightly leaky needle and seat.
