They use to be made better I think. I had one from 98, no issues. Most of my friends that bought new have gone threw 1-3. Maybe they are all very unlucky.
I'd go with wamiltons gen iv, I think its called, fit and finish is next level, I installed one last summer. T1 is also very nice. I'd stay away from wcf, personal bad experience with his hood, maybe they are better now a days, idk.

I think a 300sx is a good little kid ski, no power, stable and can be found for dirt cheap.
Find and fix the leak. If it has a flapper style scupper, maybe dont sit in the middle of the lake for long periods of time. Install a better bilge setup.
I was standing next to those hulls at competitions, I could only see the cylinder head when they cracked the hood. Pumps were all covered up at tech. I look them over at tech, parts are alot different then what we have in the states. It's like they dont copy anyone else's designs.
I'm no kawa expert, but it's probably something to do with the bored carbs and port timing. Running your b-pipe wetter will gain more bottom end if it's running on the dry side now.
