I have been running a stock uncut head with an oem head gasket in salt water (surf) for many years and its more reliable than a an oring head head IMO. I have the same set up as you on my 61x surf motor with 44carb and it has proven to be bulletproof . I have 82.5mm pistons and get around 165psi...
Why not look at the Kawasaki 1500. If you have a trailer it would be perfect , you wont need to do anything to make it faster and its reliable its fun to ride too after a learning curve .
The starter is no bueno. gear is stripped at tip . You need a total teardown and replace with minty used oem parts as needed, they are actually easy to find right here on the X it will save you money in the long run . Good luck
Whats up Tom , Stripped coupling maybe? nah probably midshaft my driveline splines are worse I keep waiting for my Freak to quit then i gotta take it apart like this guy till then i gotta tow rope
I bought mine from Parker Yamaha in AZ. that was in 2008 . give them a call i paid like 7300 OTD and registered out of state , not sure what laws have changed now.
I have had the aluminum tube snap off at the ferrel fitting at pickup and next time i intend to replace with stainless 1/4 inch OD . I would be afraid fuel line would deteorate over time
On my Freak I use 5200 on the hull side grease on the pump to seal. My pump sits kinda crooked when aligned with the CF alignment tool and fortunately I rarely remove the pump. To compress the seal and the seal pump to shoe I leave the 4 bolts somewhat loose take a ratchet strap wrapped...
I am not in the market for one of these skis at this time but I would bet Krash is going to take our sport to the next level with this deal. Finally a New motor that is not 20 years old and has Big transfer ports I bet it grunts hard for a great price. Not sure of the issues with Krash hulls...
We will see what the future holds, never say never. Similar skepticism was said about the new sxr1500 but look at what is happening at the races the new Kawi is dominating. The value of aftermarket race hulls are going to plummit. You can buy a sxr1500 for 10k and out run a much more expensive...
Try Protecs website. I had a Mach 2 on my 08 superjet too they had an updated water routing for it ,schematics, etc that looks very clean may be a Mach 1 not sure call them they are still in business.
I never thought of it that way , to break and sink or add weight my reasoning is to avoid the labor involved and go ride it instead. I would like to think it would take a Major impact to crack a carbon freak. Maybe a hitting a rock Ouch!!!
I will second that!!! glad its just a memory now after riding its easily forgotten but what a PITA. The driveshaft had to be shortened 3/4"which really should`nt have been necessary. The pump sits crooked nearly 1/2" off center in back but with the CF alignment tool I`m confident its all lined...
I would get the CF alignment tool AND enlarge those holes which is not an easy task as the stainless Maxx pump is hard. Wish i would have used CF tool when i built my Freak with a Maxx pump but it was not available yet. The splines on my JM extended driveshaft are pretty worn out after a...
