Don't worry about the 650 case. I have used the same ported 701 cyl on both 6m6 and 61x cases and could feel no difference. The same carb ran slightly richer in the 6m6 case. Your choice in pipe and prop are far more important.
Its easy to plot the exact pitch of any impeller with a scale and a $10 scientific calculator. Mark the outside of the blades every 1/2 inch from leading to trailing edge. Set the impeller on a flat surface and measure the height of each mark. Use trigonometry to convert the distance and height...
The best fuel delivery setup is having a vapor separator with its own pump. They work extremely well, make sure the return fittings/hose is larger than the inlet so no pressure can build. I like to use an external pump feeding two carbs. Its important to either leave the stock restrictors in...
It must be all of the non-sponsored riders seeking the most attention. Sponsored riders must be the ones who avoid events and ride all by themselves on quiet generic skis. Actually I have seen people get free parts just by begging. Many others are buddies with the sponsor. The rest really have...
One thing that has always been missing is how the product benefits the end user. The fact that its bigger or makes more power may be enough for most buyers but that doesnt always translate into the thrust increase that I want. I know that I can get an instant 600 pounds of thrust with stock...
Actually you do. A freerider is competing for attention, that why they go to events. They like to show off expensive equipment that let them do a backflip. The bright paint and loud exhaust is there to make sure nobody misses it.
There is always lots of talk about the size of engines, carbs, and horsepower. I would like to know how all this extra torque at lower rpm is making more thrust with a 144 pump.
Think twice about moving the engine back unless your pole is very short. Its not hard to reach an annoying tipping point with no weight up front. The best foam that I have found for mounting mufflers/tanks is EVA floor padding. You can cut it and stack it to fit. It very light and bonds very...
These bars are dirtbike carryovers, just like the snowmoblile guys installing vertical grips on their seadoos. They would be an asset if a large pad was in the empty space, its just a fashion fad.
Your choice in pumps will be as important as the engine. Hopefully the hull has a superjet pump setup. As far as the engines, a 701 will have to be ported to make the same power as a stock 800. After that the 800 has better response on pump gas with the stock ignition.
A 550 pump may work well enough, depending on your standards.
I get my knowledge by measuring thrust. A 750 engine can make enough power to produce 600+ pounds of thrust with a 140mm kawasaki or 144mm yamaha pump. I realize that this modification is not realistic for most people, though it is...
The lowest pitch Concorde (13-17) loads 701-760s a little too much for best thrust. The trailing edge of the blade needs to be reflexed a little. This gets the rpm up for better response and power. You can send it to Impros or do it yourself with a soft jaw vise and hammer.
