next time pull the throttle wide open or do as you did and choke it.
usually happens after ski has been sitting for a while and carb circuits are not full of gas.
yeap,got hot.probably from sand blocking the adjusting screw holes in the headpipe.other than damaging the coupler and paint it's really not a deal breaker
if you can't leave your ski alone for the time it takes you to walk 1200ft you need to find another city to move to!
but you're doing right by taking the lanyard.otherwise just do a battery disconnect as there is not much else that can be done short of a lock and a long chain wrapped to something.
