Just tap on it lightly & wiggle it around until it starts to break free. Galvanic corrosion gets pretty bad there and the aluminum oxide is just jamming up the works for you. Someone should make some brass inserts for the e-box lugs to minimize the stainless to aluminum contact. Lets go ride...
It will crank ! The stop button only serves to defeat the CDI from making spark. The start button only operates the solenoid to spin the starter. You have to have the lanyard on because it is a dual switch that acts the same as the stop but also defeats the start button.

No big deal, most peeps just disconnect the e-box from its two mounts and remove it with the engine. If you do not want to do this then you can remove the flywheel cover & the flywheel and unbolt the stator. The overheat sensor just sits inside the head and is held in by the plate above it...
It was priceless, you should have been there! The taunting and verbal abuse was the best part. Imagine 50 or 60 people screaming instructions and hurling insults all at the same time.
Drill the broken bolt out using a left hand drill bit, if this does not remove it then a good extractor should get it out once it is drilled thin. If not just replace the insert with some good epoxy resin with adhesive filler. Marine Tex is premixed and should work fine.
