Other Power Valve Boot Support

No Square..No Round..FX-1
After having the green silicone boot pop off the cap a couple of times, (from little pops/backfires when the exhaust outlet is under water) I came up with a quick & painless fix...Use a piece of mountain bike inner tube. Cut a section of tube about 1-1/8" long, remove the retaining spring, and carefully stretch the rubber tube over the boot and cap. You're DONE, no more boot issues and oil spray in your engine compartment. (See picture below).

With the "inner tube" mod, the spring is not needed. And it doesn't restrict the action of the bellows at all.

The problem only occurs occasionally during start up, with the spring retainer.

Brilliant ! I have had this happen on my DASA 1000 now a couple of times. I'm going to go out and get a mountain bike tube and murder it quick. Thanks

I'd rather the boot pop off than being ripped/blown apart. Whats the new weak spot?

Good point, hopefully when it happens there will not enough pressure to destroy the boot. Might be a good idea to keep a spare boot in the tool box.

This thread needs to be a sticky or moved to the Tech section. Glad to see it pop back up to the top, I was looking for it a few weeks back and never did find it.
