I like my old ATC2K it has the same video size of 640 X 480 at 30 frames per second and only cost about 80 bucks.

Why would you want one with an LCD screen on the back that can get damaged?

It would be nice to find one that's inexpensive and capable of shooting high definition movies.

that screen does not do any good when its mounted to a helmet.
Stick with the ATCK2 for about 80 bucks.

you missed the biggest upgrade,it comes with a remote control that activates record on off, this alone makes it 100% better if you are the one who also has to cut the edits. Ill buy one in a sec if the frame rates look smooth and the remote works well

That remote would be just something else to loose IMO; what's so hard about pressing the large rubber button on top?

If you're looking for faster data transfer rate, use the SanDisk Ultra-II or Extreme-III SD cards and if you need more storage they offer an ATC3K Camera that will work with the 4GB cards.

#0 We have both the high dollar hel cam that have backpacks and lancs and the old org sci cams, the wires and packpacks along with camcorder issues made us quit using them every ride, the org sci cams shot narrow feild 1 hour straight vids,no one ever wanted to weed through all the crap to cut a edit and get a headache. having to hit the button on your head doesnt cut it,you dont know if you hit it hard enough and you can lose touch with if its on record or not. A small remote with a red and green light that you can wear on your wrist makes this a VERY user friendly system.its worth the $ you dont even wana know how much our other cams cost.

Speak up ,don't kiss azz
I've had a couple of those expensive systems as well and it is a pain in the azz to set it up all the time .
I don't see where it says it has a red/green light to tell you if it's recording or not but if it does that helps a lot even though the lights are hard to see in the bright sunlight .

It really is easier and better to get a buddy on a couch to film .

I've got the ATC2K. Not impressed.. I think I'd like it better if we came up with a solid mounting solution. ALL of the video's we've made come out looking like ass.
I agree on the light.. I can't ever hear if the ATC2K beeps or whatever the hell it does to start and stop.
I was using it the other day, had it strapped TIGHTLY onto my helmet with the rubber band it comes with. That thing is a bad idea. Fast solution, bad idea.
I landed the roll about 2/3 around with my head in the water first. The strap flew down and snapped me right in the eyes. :dead1:
Took me a minute of swimming around to get the cam and helmet both off. I need to screw that thing to the helmet somehow.
How are you guys using it..?

Rivet the strap mount to the side of your helmet.

The stock camera mounts aren't very good and they break off real easy.

I've been using a flashlight holder with a black nylon coated stainless leader wire for a tether cord attachment.

If anyone wants one they're 15 bucks shipped with stainless hardware included.
