+1" turn plate

true. but wouldnt a longer steering plate negate the purpose of a shortened pole?

absolutely

Im just playing with turnplates and rideplates to find out what is the optimum pole length and rideplate combo

My REV is setup to be ridden VERY aggressively, and Im trying to take that down a notch..I think the key is in the pole length/rideplate combo..

what about these bars??? why do a lot of guys across seas use this setup? what would be the advantage? maybe less hand smashing in hard turns into the pole?

yea we have done that a few times, but eventually went with a different turn plate, its far better to just get a longer pole and a super short quick steer plate. I really want the RRP for its adjustable length, with a super short turn plate and straight bars, they just turn so much faster and better.
I can see why you want,to lengthen it at least a little,IVe riddin everyones SJ in FL and yours was nearly unridable to me,especially with a weak low back. youll prolly be alot more capable on it with 3 more inches, bout as much as you would be with 3 more inches swingin.lol

3 would be too much....Im thinking the key will be within 1-2"

this pole would work better on a SJ than it would on my REV just due to the way they handle the water...The SJ rides more nose high..the REV rides more flat on the water

the D cut I made on teh rideplate last night should also bring the nose up 5+ degrees which I believe will make a HUGE difference...

the plate I was using is a wammer plate, but it was almost full race length....

Carter,
That steering set up is the new RRP stuff. You can rotate the bars forward and back. Very cool. You can get it from Blowsion.

Idok,
One thing to keep in mind is the if you lenghten the turn plate you change the way the steering feels. Like when I ride a ski with a stock length turn plate it just feel a little awkward. I would like to see you running a nice UMI pole and steering on there! But the RRP pole and new steering are both completly adjustable.

And Blowsion can get either one for you.

with the firewall on that ski forcing you back that far,id think 3 at the very least, personally id need 5 to be comfortable. On a SJ it seems most comfortable to me to have the grips even with where the turf on the rails first comes out at the 45 degree angle toward the outside edge,at least for a primary surf rider which you seem to fit in mostly, the only thing that a super short aggressive pole does is make backies and rolls a little more tight, but its twice as hard on ya overall at the same time.the only reason i want the RRP is this summer is backy time,id like to have it short to learn, but make it longer to primary surf ride. im surprised more pole manufactures havnt made adjustable setups? possibly for a lack of used resale demand.everyone has such specific likes and dislikes
