Honestly, I can't see the prop weight making much difference. Almost all of the weight is on the hub and would have little to no effect on how fast the engine spins up.

well it has been awhile since my last post and at this point I am wondering if I should continue the build like it is or go a new direction . since I would have to rebuild the motor anyway maybe I will try the YAMAHA motor transplant ( sorry if this ticks off any purists ) but I have ridden super jets and have never found a modified kawi to have the same bottom end pull as a comparably modified superjet and since this ski is for surf bottom end pull is what I need the most and since there seems to be good efforts being made with a conversion plate it deffinetly gives me something to think about.

something I have wondered about is if the superjet is a light ski to begin with would the 701 still be as peppy in the heavier X-2 hull or would this kill all the performance ? and if it does then why bother switching power plants?

also I have been seeing some of the threads about the bottom hull modification and that in retrospect it didn't make that much difference compared to shortening the hull and rideplate mods. So the bottom hull mod wont be getting done . Instead I have allready shortened the hull and I will be doing a shortened stock plate with small strakes the first 3" of the plate

It's not a discussion of weight. The yamaha powerplant produces more power than the kawasaki. The X2 came with a smaller engine but it's signigicantly lighter than the Superjet. So far Kawasaki seems to only be able to beat yamaha in power by building engines with a higher displacement, which means more weight for the same power. I'm a believer that the Yamaha is the way to go. I haven't done it simply because a conversion isn't practical or affordible for me at this time.

new coil wires installed- check
wiring all cleaned up- two more connectors and epoxy then check
tuneable pipe screws removed- check
factory pipe fitted, fuel tank modded, hose and clamps for pipe- check
pump liner replaced, pump aligned and installed - check
dual bilge bracket fabbed and installed-check
still waiting for some small epoxy work and engine install and exhaust exit work...
hood mods and maybe glass up a rideplate or 3 to d-cut???

I should be moving in about 2-3 weeks. Finals are Dec. 16th and 17th. Still have all the assignments b/t now and then. At least i have a few days off in Nov. I was at work or school every day in oct. I think we'll ride in Dec. but I can't afford to do Daytona this year.

OK so I decided to keep the 750 kawasaki engine and build it up I was able to get a 650 ignition system box and all from an 89 X-2 that was being scrapped . I also got a westcoast ext manafold and left side strut to give me more room in the ski . I want to get the stock ride plate because of the ski being shortened and do not wish to distroy a good aftermarket one
(THANKS FOR THE OFFER ANY WAY THERE CRAB ) . I also need to get the stock 650 flywheel cover . I will be working on the ski as money and time alow

well I did finaly got a rideplate from tom21 at skishoprules.com unfotunatly it is an aftermarket plate by jet dynamics not a stock one . A stock one seems to be hard to come by. here are the pics of the modification I did to it.

one problem I do have is that I sold my R&D single carb intake to a friend of mine a few months ago and I still need a single carb set up to run my ski on ( I will run the duals after I have the ski dialed in ) I do still have the stock kiehin intake manafold but no kiehen carb . I have a nice single mikuni sbn 44 that I can run . So I made an adapter for it here are some pics
