Well after my engine blewout the front piston I decided it was time for an overhaul. The purpose of this ski is for the surf. So I'm looking for options to making good bottom end power somewhat good fuel economy and not get overly pricey or exotic. I still haven't pinned down the perticulars but I do have some general specs.
engine:
750 small pin
single 44 sbn mik. for now duals latter
R&D intake with riva f/a
higher comp. head for pump gas
coffman exaust or possibly B-pipe
hull:
2" trimed off the back of the ski
tubbies
top deck and hood work and re-paint
pump:
650 pump
solas 11/16 or stock sx-r
stock nozzle
trim system upgrade
all specs are not set in stone and will get done as time and budget allow but in florida this is the end of surf season for me good weather and couch riders make it hard to get good spots this time of the year so it works out in the end. Stay tuned for updates

Don't you already have the dual carbs? Why would you hang on to them? You have both, just do it right the 1st time.

well I had intended to get tubbies from tom he just don't know it yet unless he reads this post but as far as the dual and single carb issue goes I might as well play the whole which is better and see for myself.

the dual carbs are 44mil silver sbn mikunis (currently red) . No that wasn't from a full throttle run the ski ate only the front piston but the ski was runnig funny the whole day and then dropped a cyl. it was a 95 with original pistons I guess it was it's time.

Now the update I scored an sx-r stock prop and I have been told by an older pm from crab that they work killer with the X-2 and stock nozzle . I also contacted tom21 and will be getting his X-2 tubbies. THANKS TOM21. I was also told by tom to try the bottom hull mod that crab did , so that will be getting added to the list. This should turn out to be a nice build . I won't be able to work on it next week though I will be changing out the cab on my truck for one thats in better condition. I just hope some @$$.... don't slam in to it soon afterwards. I will post a few pictures of the cab change but will get back to the X-2 the week after. untill next time:wavey::burnout:

well today was a total wash for working on the truck ( rainy weather ) so I have been doing research on mods to do on the ski. I sent an e-mail to groupk for some recomendations but have not got a reply back and of course any recomendations from you guys would be great . I did see some nice stuff on there 650 sx resto mod. and there 800sx-r killer superjet. BOTH HAVING A SIGLE CARB 44SBN mikuni.

the one thing I want to do is get a stock ride plate and shorten the back to match the hull trim but weld on some small skegs on the first 3" of the ride plate and leave the rest flat (Experiment in nozzle athority ) Intead of a d-cut plate.:burnout:

well right now the ski has an oceanpro extended ride plate with skegs .befor if you wanted to turn at high speed you had to let off the throttle or it would just go strait .This plate that I will be making should fix that .:burnout:

Anything you cut off the rideplate will help you out. The SXR impeller is sweet! Cut it back and you will be good to go.

Just tried the SXR impeller today on my new 780 X2, SWEEET!! Great upgrade for some good hit. Still getting the ski tuned in, and it's amazing!

well here is a mod I may try I looked at the stock 750 kehin single manafold and found it had wider ports. With a mikuni sbn44 adapted to it it might flow better than my R&D single manafold .today I will be making the adapter plate and doing some other work to the ski.:burnout:

well I decided to hold off on the carb adapter plate till I have access to a mill so instead I did the fuel tank mod that pete jacobs did on his X-2. HOPE YOU DON'T MIND PETE. I used copper instead of aluminum because I already had some at the house. here are some pics.

well I didn't have alot of time to work on my ski this week but did some weight comperisions of my impellers
15.5 650 skat-trak is 1.13 pounds
11/16 750 solas is 2.0 pounds
13/18 stock sx-r is 2.15 pounds
looks like I will be tring the 650 ignition set up on my 750 so I will have a light enough flywheel to make up for the heavy prop and still not have the motor rev like a slug
