riding with contacts?

its a pain. Never lost a set but sometimes if the water splashes in my eye I have to stop in the water and wait for the contact to center itself again. Glasses/goggles also really help

I used to ride with daily disposables. The brand of contact lenses made a huge difference as to whether they would pop out or move around or not be affected. But, since I had lasik earlier this year, it's not an issue anymore.

i got 2 boxes of 2 week contacts last year and i still have a pair left. thats all i wear mine for is skiing. when i first started that was one of my big concerns but a few of the guys said i should have to much of a problem and they were pretty much right.

I wear contacts and haven't lost one yet. Many face plants as well. Some times i will get water behind tn and will have to stop and move it around, but i can settle with that. Without them, i'm blind! I have no other choice! I'm a -7.5!

I've only fed the fish a couple of Accuvues over the years. More often they'll just get pushed back up behind my eyelids...that kinda sucks. Usually during a sub if I close my eyes too late, or if I take a wave wrong and it launches a bucketfull of high velocity water right into my face.

You guys..Not that a million people dont do it all the time I but I really need to warn you of the risks of wearing soft contact lenses while in the water (both pools and natural bodies of water..)

Contact lenses are hydrophilic (they love water)...Well, so do alot of other things..Bacteria and parasites live in EVERY water source around you

Well, when contact lenses are worn for extended periods of time in the water those same bacteria/parasites can end up stuck to your CL's, in your eyes and in your case (assuming you remove them).

With swimming pools the main concern is chlorine which is water souble.....chlorine soaks into the contacts etc etc etc...

Not removing the lenses is the BIGGEST danger in this situation.....I could go on and on but the point is:

do not EVER sleep in contact lenses the day you have worn them into the water. Make sure to remove them and clean them thoroughly and properly, preferably with a hydrogen peroxide based cleaning solution (oxysept or clear care)

that is what I rec'd to 99% of my pt's....I try and give everyone a few sets of dailys along with their 2wk/monthly's...

I wish I wish they still made the maxsite lenses....IF we didnt have the FDA, I'd be having them contracted in a heartbeat..

i may have to get me a few sets of dailys. I have agstigmitism(SP?) so as soon as my contacts move a little I have trouble seeing and they move easily in wind or water. i think i'll have to stack up on some walmart sunglasses to help block the wind.

I have the same thing i have worn contacts for proably 6 years now and have surfed most of that time and skied for probably half i have lost probably 1 or 2 pairs. I found if you kinda keep your eyes half open they stay in fine with waves and stuff
