I'm not sure. It probably alright, but I don't know crap about engines. My only experience with a leaking gasket was when Geoff had a 750sx. The crank seized on it, but it had also been swamped an uncountable amount of times.

email/call Carl. He'll tell you if someone else doesn't ring in here.

I think that looks worse than it really is
hard to really tell from just the pictures but it looks to me like someting large bounced around on top of that piston for awhile
check for broken reeds especially if you still have the stock ones, when you pull the cylinder carefully check the crank bearings
How is the cylinder wall ? is it deeply scored ? look for a broken ring

drilll em out
not reallly needed you can always rivit back in i guess but i see no point
maybe on the right side for fuel lines or somehting

well i dont plan on using the fuel selector anymore, so the fuel lines shouldnt be an issue. where do you hang the electrical lines? the exhaust hose?

i stilll have to put mine back together yet
but ill probably just put that side back in
but the tube should hold high enough due to the metal pipe being high
my hood seal was shot tho too

well my cylinder looks good-no deep scoring. a light hone should be all it needs
started grinding out the ridges and the tubbie screws today. got a little crazy with the grinder-couple nicks here and there. still gotta do a little touch-up with the dremel

I ended up pulling off the my hood seal and was able to re install it. I just took my time and got lucky that it didn't rip very much. it kinda did on the bottom but it went back on the ski easily. I then put rivits back in the tie wrap holders. You can glass around them if want though.

So what exactly are you going to do with the engine? Use the same pistons? Have you checked out the crank yet? Figure out what went through the engine yet?

i havnt pulled the cylinder yet, im going to tonight. i plan on a hone and a size upm on the pistons. top-end kits arnt cheap on these things, i was dreamin of my $60 topend on my dirtbike.

id like to do a little porting, but ill probably just polish the ports myself

i've seen complete top end rebuild kits for like $200-$250.

You say that the cylinder only needs a hone, then why are you going up one size on the pistons?
