After riding my boat and Phill's back to back this weekend, I am thinking of converting to a single carb.

His setup:
61x cases, 61x cylinder @ 84mm, heavy FS porting (identical porting to mine)
Stock ignition, stock CDI, stock intake, carb, reeds, etc. All stock. Compression 170lbs. B-Mod
Skat 14.5/18.5 race prop

My setup:
62T cases, 61x cyl @ 82mm, identical porting. Dual 44’s, Vforce2 reeds, 165psi, B-Mod (set up identical to his), Solas 13/16 cutback

I swear, his boat his almost as hard as mine, and keeps up with me every bit of the way. I am convinced that if he had my total loss and the right prop, his boat would f’n scream at me from the distance.

Now, my wanting for a single carb has little to do with his power level. It’s just that it’s just about as powerful as mine, so I wouldn’t be giving up power anywhere. And it’s so much cleaner and easier to work on!

I am extremely tempted to go for a single Riva Powerbomb

get ready for people to tell you you're wrong. I'm running single right now but I'm only on a single 44, I'm about to upgrade to a 48.

i dont care what anyone says.i ONLY run singles.i dont care if i could maybe get another 1.5hp out of duals.

the benifits of a single far outweigh the marginal gain that you get from duals

dual lovers can preach till the cows come home.....im not listening:tongue:

I just couldn't believe how strong his boat is. It needed some tuning, and it was very simple. Granted, he's got a few CC's on me, but damn!
I'm not in it for the topend.
I am starting to appreciate simplicity.

A single Riva will hit well for that application. I prefer duals but singles are just fine, especially a powerbomb or full spec. I thought about doing the single on my ski but once I ditched the 44's I was very pleased. Although I got my ski to run good with the 44's my ski just liked the 48's  . Hits harder and is much cleaner so I did not mess with the 44's anymore.

Go for it, easy to tune also.

I'm actually running a 61x single carb in my 01 superjet....and my blaster has T cases with a single 46.

I don't want to mess with trying to fix a set of duals on the beach. Simplicity is key.

I'm running a single Novi 46 on my 760 and single Novi 48 on my 860. I'm quite content with it and everyone who has ridden it so far is shocked by pull, throughout the entire range.

I'm not sure about the 61X setup, as I recall Chuckie (Team Scream) ementioning that the benefit of the 62T is the straighter shot of air/fuel into the cases.

Also, I really like the ATP 62T single intake. It has bigger runners than the Riva/Kawi conversion, but I never did a side-by-side comparison, so take it for what you will. I do think that the Riva intake would have a hard time supporting 800+ cc's thoughas it was designed for 650.

imo, i think the single carb would hit harder in the bottom end. more air/fuel velocity right? the duals would "probly" be better for mid-top end. MORE air/fuel period. i say go for it man, let us know how it works!

My single kawi manifold on my 62t cases gets almost ice cold when the motor is running. Especialy when its run at part throttle. The cases will be up to temp but the manifold is very cold.
