After riding my boat and Phill's back to back this weekend, I am thinking of converting to a single carb.
His setup:
61x cases, 61x cylinder @ 84mm, heavy FS porting (identical porting to mine)
Stock ignition, stock CDI, stock intake, carb, reeds, etc. All stock. Compression 170lbs. B-Mod
Skat 14.5/18.5 race prop
My setup:
62T cases, 61x cyl @ 82mm, identical porting. Dual 44’s, Vforce2 reeds, 165psi, B-Mod (set up identical to his), Solas 13/16 cutback
I swear, his boat his almost as hard as mine, and keeps up with me every bit of the way. I am convinced that if he had my total loss and the right prop, his boat would f’n scream at me from the distance.
Now, my wanting for a single carb has little to do with his power level. It’s just that it’s just about as powerful as mine, so I wouldn’t be giving up power anywhere. And it’s so much cleaner and easier to work on!
I am extremely tempted to go for a single Riva Powerbomb
