Custom/Hybrid maxx pump..148 setback TWINS

Didnt know it was made by SBT until googling the serial number on it . Bought it from a forum vendor . Now have CF housing and a just ordered a CF shaft an hour ago .

Ive got an email somewhere from skat......I belilve it was just shy of 2600 for pump, prop, cone and shaft....not sure if it included bearings or not

so, 1300ish or so from maxx...300 prop...100 bearings...150 shaft...puts you under 1900 i'd say thats a good deal

just happened to find a brand new in box set of OEM bearings for the pump in a box..SCORE!

Next time I rebuild my mag, I'm gonna find ceramic bearings an be done with it. Little pricey but barely any resistance or drag.
I was informed not to use those ceramic bearings because they won't endure the extreme pump vibrations and don't have the same rpm rating as the regular bearings. Also they're $200+ a per bearing.

I'm just going with some regular Jap C3 bearings and use synthetic pump oil to keep the resistance down. Total cost 28 bucks shipped from VBX.

Ive been using them for years in pumps , bearing housings , and motorcycle wheels and have never had one go bad . Also they are not $200 each at world wide bearings .

You must be using Hybrid bearings with ceramic balls and steel cages because the full ceramic bearings are way more expensive.

Max pump comes with cone . I have a 144 on the way . Will put Hybrid ceramic bearings in it anyway so bearings dont matter . Got lots of props already . Ordered this one without driveshaft .

Hybrid ceramic . I use them in the carbon fiber wheels in 2 R6 sportbikes . The front wheel will spin for over 6 minutes without stopping while bike is on stand . Stock bearings the wheel goes about 6 revolutions before stopping . That is what convinced me about hybrid ceramic bearings . I have them in pumps and midhousings in 3 standups .

How long has maxx been making his pumps? All of the TIG welds on his pumps are fused (electrode melts both parent metals to form a weld bead without the addition of filler material and creates a concave shape weld, good for 3mm parent material tickness or less), fused is good for looks and for sealing edges etc, but has a dramtically reduced amount of strength in sections greater than 3mm therefore would make them prone to cracking. These pumps cop a heap of vibration and erractic loading so I'm interested to har if anyone has had the mounts crack? would be easy to fix, just run over the mounts again adding filler.

Can anyone tell me what the Skat billet mag weighs? And how do they eliminate the glavanic corrosion between the stainless wear liner and the Aluminium pump body? it's not an issue in fresh water but in salt water it could be.

Still needs a special driveshaft for the setback mag pumps and they require a wider double row front bearing due to the shorter vane section.

I would image the shipping cost from Asia is quite expensive too.

im using oem bearings in my maxxx, was told by a few they are fine, should i get something else?

If it's a setback pump, you'll have issues with the shaft length with OEM bearings. One of them needs to be wider than OEM

Why are you running an SBT component on a DASA/mag driveline?

We do it all the time. SBT midshafts in aircraftsalz's XS1000, then DASA 1100, etc. With skat mag 148. Lucas has run them with XS1000, then DASA 880 with skat mags 148 and 150.

Lucas hammered an sbt midshaft onto a driveshaft with f@cked up splines and rode it on his surf ski for almost a year.

Not on the maxx pumps with maxx driveshafts. All of the maxx driveshafts i have seen use the std single row oem style bearings. Different than skat seback setup. I have a maxx shaft here from tricky for testing and we will be setting up josh's maxx pump with a mag shaft like skat with the dbl row bearing in front. In my opinion, the dbl row bearing is needed for stability when you move the bearings closer together.
