Lanier 07 Buildoff Contender

He's even barrel rolling now---just ask him, he'll tell you!!!

Although the surf was too small on Saturday in Panama City for him to prove it to me.:boggled:

It wasn't too small when I actually wanted you to ride. It was just too small (non existant) when we finally got out on the water.

Garrett is a one pump chump who prolly over rotated a stab and now is expertise:haha: :shooter3:

More then i can say....Daytona will be my day

Glad you qualified that statement with the "more than I can say" bit.

Everyone was waiting for you to huck one yourself since you threw the helmet on and everything for Sunday's routine.

No, I told him that I was waiting on you. I didn't want to break anything and not be able to teach you:pokey: When you finally decided to ride, it was flatter than flat.

Damn!!! So it's MY fault you didn't have any attempts----that's just lame. :frown: :bad3:

I'm sure Jesse would have verified any and all attempts/results. :cool2:

WOW!
You really got some serious work ahead of you. There is not much left of that hood or the handlepole bracket area.
Good luck

Finally an update. This portion of the work has gone extremely SLOW. It's very hard to get the foam symetric and I've been putting in some serious hours at work so I haven't had the time that I need. I'm getting close on shaping the foam. You can see where I spread some spackling compound to try to smooth things out a bit and fix some oversanding. I've got a little more work to do on getting the hood symetric and then I'm going to paint it all with brown latex pain that I have laying around so that I can see what I've got a little better. I was going to do a mold of the foam and then make a piece and install it, but I've since changed my mind. I'm only going to do this once ever so I'm going to put about 3 layers of glass over what I've got and then remove the foam with acetone and add a few more layers inside. I know it won't be the smoothest surface, but I can sand and fill until I get what I need. One of the pics show in red where the hood and in blue where the hull will be. The black X'd out area is going to be open for the pole mount. This very similar to what an Octane has and it eliminates the nose piece. I have to make the hood first and then come back and do the hull portion. I'm in the middle of making an X-Metalworks order for pretty much everything Pat's got. I need a good bit of the stuff now so that I can get the pole mount area and hood hook area correct.

Your beagle rocks! I had that guy's twin when I was growing up. Hull is coming along....Wow that's still alot of work left. Keep at it!

Garrett is gonna be schooling you soon Idoc..... [EVIL]At least he is ATTEMPTING rolls[/EVIL] :cool2:

Not a whole lot of progress, but I have the final shape of the hood and nose done so I got to remove the hood and see what it looks like by itself. You'll have to use your imagination to figure out the nose area of the hull because what you see is not what is going to get glassed over in the pole mount area. I have to do some shaping in order to get a transition from the sides of the nose where the hood meets to the pole mount area, which will be flat. The hood actually ended up looking a litte better than I thought it would. It kind of has a stingray look to it. Those pieces of foam in the front of the hood will basically just get a fiberglassed over on the outside like an Octane. It's amazing how long this detail work is taking me. I'm already on my 5th "OK this is the last night before I get to lay glass" Maybe someday before Christmas I'll get some glass laid.

Dude, that is looking awesome!

Question, is that hood going to rotate enough to get the hood hooks out of the keepers, or do you have something else planed?

I've been working on that. My plan right now is to get some spacers fabbed up to raise the hood hooks just a bit and I'll just give it enough of a gap to work. I'm finalizing my Xmetal order tomorrow so I should be able to start test fitting parts soon. I'm pretty confident that I can make it work and still look good. Those little challenges are half the fun.
