well.....on my lunch yesterday I had to go to walmart for some stuff so I decided to pick one of these batteries while I was there. The thing is tiny.....looks more suitable for an rc car than a jetski. :haha: So anyway....after riding yesterday I charged it up and put it in my ski. Fits nice and snug if you place it sideways in the battery tray. I put zip tie around it to secure it in snug. I cranked my ski over for about 10 sec and it didnt seem to fade it at all. I held the stock battery for a few seconds so that my arm would adjust to the weight then I held this one and the difference is amazing.

Good idea slutty.....hopefully this will work out.

oh....and i think the best part is that the terminals are soooo much easier to get too.

I didn't read all 5 pages, maybe it's been said, but I would really worry about the ability to turn over a motor in the surf with a battery being that small. These small batteries don't have the duty cycle that bigger batteries do. The more times you run down the battery, the less capacitance you have, the weaker your starts are going to be. I especially don't think you're going to have good luck starting a sunken ski.

read through it Doug.... I tried giving it my best .2

I usually dont throw away my ski.... there for my ski does not sink, or ingest water.... so I have had no issues in the surf.... I have been running my Autocraft 5lb battery for 8 months, unforunetly it seems my boat is being worked on far more then ridden,

Well, I got the 85.5mm flattop motor tuned, competed in Orlando, and then cracked the left side of my boat doing a flare off the two wake hit that they gave us during intermition... Before that i through a huge stab, and a super clean role... I was stoked, that was my first experience with the double wake!

Took the boat home... assed damage.... then began grinding/sanding off all the gel coat.

I have reinforced all the fractures with 11oz Carbon... two layers all around the bondline.... about five tapered out layers were the hood lip cracked.... and block sanded back smooth.... The hull is stoute as hell, the sides are way stronger then before.

Tonight or sometime this weekend I will be layying up the entire outside of the hull using some Carbon/kevlar and S-glass.... 6 layers of 6oz..... then I will block it out, trim the edges, and finaly be done! :woot:

It has been a sh*t load of work.... but it looks beautifull so far... I have taken some pictures, but need to bring a chick over to teach me how to load them.

The boat should be damn near indestructible, and should not weigh any more then 5lbs extra.... There is a arse load of gell on these boats!.

Now I just hope the lower is strong enough to hold up, untill I can afford a light weight!

No kidding - I had to repair a crack in the bottom of mine and I was amazed how deep I had to grind before I hit the glass

I had it thicker than an 1/8" easy in some places.... really thick crap

well.....i can tell a difference with the smaller battery. the front of the ski feels lighter. nearly sits level now too. rode for a tank and a half today and probably started the ski 15 - 20 times. was running bilge most of the time too. so far so good.

Ive got a similar battery, in use in sons boat.

NOT sealed though, I wish I had seen teh sealed one!

this one is a pwc/power sport battery from autozone, $30 or so after the $10 core refund.

it has worked FINE power wise as well too, starts and runs the bilge easily.

Ill never buy another full sized battery I dont think.

if your starter and cables are in good shape this battery will do just fine.if your starting system has high resistance anywhere then you will kill this batt quick

my old cables which looked to be in ok shape would kill a battery by the end of the day.the cable ends would get VERY hot.i put in all new oem cables and this mini bat and no issues since

Never really thought about that. I may have to try it in my SJ now.

rode w/ mine all weekend and it did fine....

I could really notice the difference in weight.... my ski floats almost completely flat.... just a slight list to the left..

so far, it's a success

I stepped up and bought a 12.00 battery for my ski this weekend, little bitty thing. IT WORKS!!! Ran my bilge and started my SJ all weekend!:woot:
I was amazed that it would even start the ski, much less hold a charge all weekend(not running total loss tho). Ski feels MUCH lighter, I was amazed at what a difference 12 lbs. could make.

4lb battery w/ a 12lb decrease in weight...

If you bought a 12lb batt, then you lost 4 lbs, but I'm assuming that was a typo..
