how to polish metals? (pipes)

the factory blue paint is starting to peel from my Factory Pipe type 4 dry pipe. first it started chipping off small portions, but not a large piece is peeling off but still connected to some firm spots.

anyways, i dont know what kind of metal it is or how i would go about taking all the paint off and making it SHINEY and Polished.

Its stamped aluminium mate, get it acid dipped then take it to a polishers :biggrin:

i got this stuff at home deopt to strip the paint off my ride plate and an old head on a kawi 550, i forget what it was called, jasco paint remover or somethin.... but anyway you just brush it on, its like a gelatin and it strips the paint RIGHT off. then you could just get it polished.

It was coated, not polished.

neverdull is a great product. Brightens everything up.

I used a polishing wheel on a drill and some Meguiar's aluminum polish and went to town. Worked pretty good. Going to freshen it up again before I put the motor back in.

ill post pics of mine later.im not done polishing it i need to sand it out a little. but i think mine was the ugliest b pipe when i first got it. someone painted it grey with a brush.
