Good/Bad Idea You Tell Me

i just bought a 04 SuperJet(100% stock)... and now i have to wait 7 months to ride it...dam winter!!! anyways over the winter i want to do the following mods, what im wondering is for the total im willing to spend do you guys have better ideas where to spend my money im looking for flat water, after reading alot of forums im going to try a Dcut first i used blowsion for the prices

Also with this set up will i have to jet or do any extra tune'n?

Don't waste the money on the MSD coil. Also don't waste the money on a carbon plate. D-Cut yours for free. The money saved on those two, can probably get you a port job on your cylinder. Third- get two attwood 500 pumps from walmart, and a tube of 5200 marine sealant. Rough up the bottom of your hull under the coupler and glue them in, that will only be about 45 bucks instead of 179. A bracket is more reliable in the long run, but 179 for a bilge setup is horrendous. Lastly, idk how you feel about putting used stuff on your ski, but you can probably find a used scoop grate for around 100 bucks.

Before I got reeds, Enhancer and coil....

I'd get an ADA head and bump up the compression a bit. I'd also get a UMI or Xmetal steering system and bars. Ditch that stock stuff. Matter of fact, I think a steering system and bars would be the first mod I would do on a stock ski. As far as your bilge pumps go, you can hook that up with some attwoods from Wal-mart, some 5200 adhesive, and a couple bilge outlets for about a hundred bucks cheaper. Try the stock ride plate before you go buy one.

Buy used from guys on here and pwctoday and cut your costs in half....Also I would stay away from the MSD coil/enhancer. If you want the most acceleration, total loss is the way to go.

thanks, as for the Ignition Enhancer i sold my 95 and i did put an Ignition Enhancer on it... made a huge diffrence the stock cpu went so i figured what the hell, as for reliability does an ADA head and a port job harm it at all? and if im going to get a port job is there much i can do inside the engine for more power?

what kind of steering system and bars are best if it matters im 6'2" and i really want to pull off a barrel this season lol

FWIW, I bought a used pipe before and after about a year of tuning issues come to find out my manifold was out of a 650 and hacked up to make it 701 spec. Point is, just watch out buying used parts. I would not buy another used pipe or any electrical components.

I would definitly skip the reeds, coil and carbon plate. IMO there are much better ways to spend $675.90 Like a port job and a bunch of gas/oil. I would also look into a new set of bars/grips, pole spring and ditch the stock chinpad....all super cheap stuff that will improve your ski.

The MSD Enhanser will eventually fail. For the most power you would probably want a total loss set up.
For a budget I would: eliminate rev limiter on stock CDI, lighten flywheel and advance static timing. The only cost is the $55 to lighten the flywheel.

i dont think total loss is a good reccomendation of a new riders first mods....if you dont want to run a MSD cdi then just have stock one modified...

It technically can all go bad, Im not sure of the frequency but I have busted a coil before. Im sure it all depends on riding conditions and maintenence but I dont see why an MSD made cdi could fail and an MSD made ignition box couldn't.

I've got a repitched for more low end solas concord impeller if your interested in saving some money

it's a 12-15 3mm cut back solas concord for $150 plus shipping. it's in good used shape. if you want it perfect i could have it reconditioned at sbt for $30

I wouldn't worry about a pole just yet. If you desire in the future, you can cut your stock one down. A steering system is going to be a great mod though!

Get the "Bruins" steering system!!!!! Just PM him on here. It Rocks!!!!! wayyyy better than UMI.

You need:

Intake grate
Impeller
B Pipe
Footholds
Steering system
Bilge
Head (bump compression)

good to go for now.
I say leave the rideplate alone until you ride better.
