Looks cool but I would be a little weary. I have had a hood strap rip up front by the pole bracket from a hard upside down landing. If it is not already I would reinforce that area with some stiching or something. Just a sugestion from my own experiences.

If I had a SJ, I would have to run this system. It looks secure! 1" nylon webbing is rated @ 3800lbs. breaking strength...X2 webs=7600 lbs. The stock latch would have snapped off long before the ratchet rips out of the fiberglass. :biggthumpup: :biggthumpup:

it looks like your ditching the stock latch ? wouldnt it be better if you left the stock latch , and used the ratchet straps with the latch ?
 
EJ does a great job with this set up! I am using it now on my practice boat, and it is super solid and really clean.

He sell a nice package for cheap too!
Stainless ratchet, turfed handle for comfort :)
super solid backing plate, guide for the straps
custom straps.
