Ebay starters

Thanks... I have just went to the dark side after having Kawi's for 7 years. We will see? I still love my SXR, just a little to heavy and to go inverted.

I bought an eBay starter from a seller named DB Electrical in June or July 2008.
When it arrived the bolts that hold it together weren't even finger tight. (Bad).
I sealed up the seams with black RTV, put loctite on the bolts, and it is still working like a champ over a year later. (Good!).
This is with frequent but freshwater only use, I feel like I got my money's worth for sure.

don't do it!! DB electrical is a JOKE.... here is how they work. they find old/bad starters, pull them apart, clean em up a little bit, spraypaint them black and off they go.

they are good on shipping though, i guess so they can cover they're rear.

they say they are new? hahhahaha thats funny. one of the starters i recived had finger prints on the fresh paint.

epic fail

It is a crapshoot with DB electrical, some work ok and some work for a very short period of time,if you have the money to buy a starter from those guys ,just go to a reputable starter repair place and have yours rebuilt, you will be way better off in the long run ,I guarantee it!

If so they are F----ing liars . I just picked one up last week . I asked several times if they were new, not used , not rebuilt . He repeatedly told me they were new . It works fine looked great . I couldn't tell that it was not new , but then again I don't know how to tell.I inspected it for tool marks or signs that it had been torn into. I guess 150.00 for an OE Mitsuba is to good to be true.

I don't like to pile on but...

I bought an "eBay" starter for $100 and it lasted 8 rides. Then it squealed loudly and died.

I don't remember the seller's name and we didn't trade feedback so I can't look him up.

I ended up putting my old original OEM 1990 starter on and it worked great. I only replaced it because I expected that a 20 year old starter would surely fail soon. Only OEM starters for me from now on!

I called DB and they said definitively that I bought and received a NEW mitsuba starter. I told them they should register and defend them selves on the H . They said they would. I guess we will see. E-bay feed back is outstanding .

Theres ways to cut corners with maintaining your ski but the starter isn't one of them. Its kind of an important part. Just suck it up a pay the $300 for OEM- just my .02

Shadier is not accurate . A flat out lie is what I was told if all this is true .

I was in a pinch but then borrowed a friends OEM back up and have not used it yet.

Well, not much more than a year. It is starting to squeal now. It was one of their cheap ones,
Their website now shows new Mitsuba starters for $150, shows this picture of the housing

I would like to hear details from anyone who has actually ordered an "advertised new Mitsuba" from them.
