does it really matter for a beginner?

i have been riding my 07 sxr 800 for about 6 months.
i'm getting into freestyle and am gonna start purchasing better parts, so i was curious - is it worth it for me to sell/trade my kawasaki for a superjet even though im such a beginner? or should i not worry about it at this stage?

the last thing i want is to modify my kawi and then realize the smaller superjet should have been my first choice. sorry for the slightly vague question , but its been driving me crazy.

Well I rode a SXR for about 3 years. Modded it, then realized I wanted an SJ pretty bad after riding my buddies a couple of times.

I am 5'8" and the SXR just was too big of a boat for me to handle.

Just my opinion, sell it and move on. But you might want to to wait until Spring to sell it. You'll probably get more money for it then.

thanks for the quick reply.
yeah im 6'1" and 160 lbs, and i do feel a little restricted because of the ski's size and weight. now i just gotta find a superjet for sale near FL.

If you can sell it and make up the difference to get yourself a good SJ go for it. If I was 160 lbs.....that's what I would have done. I love the SXR but, im 6'3" 215lbs and I didnt want to spend money on the mods right out of the package to put some more brap into a SJ to rip me outta the water.

For me.....im stickin with the SXR as my first ski ive owned and then move onto a modded SJ at a much later date.

I own both, and they are similarly moded, SXR has about an extra 1500 into it, but SJ cost 700 more new, and I'm switching to a SJ. Not cause it's lighter just 45 lbs diff right now, but because I had to pick one. It was driving me nutts trying to switch back and forth between the two different riding styles. It ended up I couldn't ride either properly so I picked the SJ. The low end brap, knowledge on this board, and aftermarket being more geared towards SJ and freestyle.

I rode a 750 SX for about 2 years before i got my first SJ, I decided to practise riding and basic tricks before I started throwing money at the project, if you decided to go the freestyle route you might as well go with throwing money in the right ski.

One thing was very helpful to me, coming from a SX 750 to a superjet I felt enlightend...its was like loosing extra weight over night.

JAMESG, have you ridden a SJ yet? If you ride Dunedin you are welcome to try mine out before you go buy one. But i will say, do not put any more money into your ski until your ride a SJ.

I wont be out this weekend, maybe next.

Get a trinity light SXR hull and bolt everything over.....it is your only hope....:pokey:

Good call. I LOVE mine and so does Madmat (although his is a Waterdawg SXR with Yami Motor)... There are 4 versions, just the GP version will make you lighter than a Superjet (much lighter after they crack, leak and fill with water....and they will), plus you get wayyy better handling and the hull won't fall apart in a year. Not to mention your ski with a stock motor will SMOKE any stock motor superjet in the top end, bottom end and middle.

$4199 comes with hull, hood, nosepiece, scupper, footholds, dual cooling, shortened rideplate and everything you need to bolt all your sxr parts right on.
