Why?

J/K.
The surf on late Friday and all of Saturday made me nervous. I didn't much like going out in it.
The size wasn't bad by itself, but everything was extremely close together. I had a hard time just getting to the outside, there was constant whitewater charging at you.
Playing around in the beach break on Friday late afternoon was challenging. I'd try to get to a wave only to have it close up. So then I turn around to let the whitewater go down a bit before trying to go through. Remember, there would be another breaking wall of whitewater just a second or two behind it. So then I'd have to race parallel to the beach to find a low spot in the wash. There were a few times where it was literally 5 ft whitewash a couple of feet to one side, and beach a couple feet to the other side.
Fun stuff.

Shred to survive!! We get that here and then elbows off the pump clog with shells because you find your self trapped between waves (not 5 foot caps OMG!!) and beach in 3 inches of water......well I do:thinking:

its probably about less than half that size but the wave interval is about what we get to ride when we do have waves. very few days do we have a storm sittingin the gulf just sending us sweet large rollers. I def feel uneasy watching that vid.

Not sure which is worse- not seeing it coming or waiting for it to hit you and knowing it gonna be like getting rolled in a washing machine.

Lots of respect to those that braved that mess.:You_Rock_Emoticon:

Wimp, you jump the whitewash. It's really soft, like bath bubbles, you just pop out the other side. Plus, don't you have Jetworks power?:splatt:

Hard to "hop" a 5ft'er. My limited skills didn't allow for it, how's that. :bigok:
Also, there was usually another one right behind it.

While I was still riding, I was getting comfortable bunny hopping onto 6-8 foot whitewash just after the wave would break and start to foam out, the trick is to hop and hit the power and drive right up it. ( although if you miss calculate it will stop your forward momentum and send you back at the beach in a bad way....)

8ft is 2ft overhead. How are you bunny-hopping that? :dunno:
Read that article again in pwi..explains it step by step...when it gets big try hitting it at an angle and turning to square up on it as you are going over..just hit it at the right speed and carry your momentum over it..ive seen taylor go over huge walls of whitewater..hes pretty much the master at it

hopping onto it silly, then power up! Honestly it took a while to get up the nerve to try it but its not as bad as you think. My 08 prop gets good drive even in foam. I'm thinking I learned that from watching Ross or Serlin thinking "hmmmm".

I've seen a few vids on the Barry Blanchard site over the years and I've just had some spare time to go thro the Sufslam vids on the site - wow!

Forgive my ignorance, I don't know who Barry Blanchard is or who you, DJ are, but the time and effort you've put in to posting all those Surfslam vids, and giving people the facility to download them all themselves, is tremendous. Well done and thankyou!!:notworthy:
