I had a problem with water getting into the tank through the breather that sounds like your symptoms. My breather hose does not go up the handle pole because I have a RN pole on my SN. I drained about 12 oz of water out of my tank and the water separator was full. I now run my water separator...
I'm taking the coupler off my 6m6 motor to swap it out with a Kawasaki coupler because the 650 is going in my kawi 550 hull.... :-). Is the coupler a right hand thread? Lefty loosey, righty tighty?
I was planning on using the rope in the cylinder trick to remove it unless anyone has a better...
The 650 SN will be a big improvement over your 650 Sx. We sold our highly modded 650sx and bought a 650 SN for about the same price even with some nice mods like footholds, intake grate, and prop. You should be able to get a 701 later for around $700 - $800.
Good luck.
I've got a 61x 701 on the bench right now.
the first picture is the cases just in front of the starter.
The second two pictures are on the intake side of the cylinder in the middle just behind the carb.
They all say 61x
I took an old brake lever off a mountain bike that already had the hole for the bolt to go through and then drilled a small hole for the cable adjuster to thread into. The bracket is bolted to the upper right bolt for the reduction nozzle.
Here's a link to a write uP of my CATS install on a 650sx.

Not exactly the same but you might get some ideas.
I went to Performancebicycle.com online and bought a brake cable from a tandem bike. The cable fit through the factory bilge fitting into the pump cavity.
I used a quality mountain bike lever that bolted right onto the bars.
You don't need a spring because the water flow straightens it out...
Ahhh.... I see the problem now.... The Epic Scupper has magnets that pull it shut... It might work. You should PM "freestyle 650" and ask if he thinks it would work.
Going in??? You mean you can pay someone to I install them and turf?
What do they charge. After doing three foothold and turf jobs my son and I are getting pretty good at it.
Maybe we should charge. :-)
On my 550 I run dual rule 500 manuals witha handlebar switch. I turn them on when I start it and off when I'm done. The only problem is they can run for almost a minute to empty the hull after a deep sub or fountain trick. I think the best solution is a scupper valve and a single bilge like i...
Your problem is the missing tubes that direct the water to your bilges. That's why the hood has the tubes. With an open filter FA you will ingest water.
Random bogs are possibly water in the fuel. Check you water separator in your tank vent line to see if it's full. Once it fills it will let water into your tank.
Charge the battery before every ride. You may have a total loss ignition in your ski ( they don't have charging coils, that's why they're called total loss).
