I have heard the UK is similar to Washington state (temperature and weather wise). Dual cooling is not necessary, even running a high compression girdled head in cooler temps. Like mentioned before, it is good security / back up though. The biggest thing to make sure of is to do it correctly...

Chromebattery on eBay. Last time i bought one, it was $50 shipped for a sealed gel battery. They last longer than the expensive batteries plus gel cells.

Keep them both. Pull the tailgate off your truck and you can make it to the lake no problem with the skis side by side. Otherwise, I'd say part the 750 and get a 701 and a B pipe for your SJ. Squares ride nice with a decent 701.

I used the one from Brad's square for my son's ski, it didn't need any work other than fresh color. The hood I have needs primer and color. I'll check on shipping and get back to you, I shipped a 550 hood to GA for about 65.00.

Yurkanip has it right - ride as many as you can. I love my Q8, but there are a lot of people who really don't like riding them. Rickters feel like SJ's to me, but just "better". Rode one BOB gen 1, had a hard time riding that one, but some of the other guys just love them. It's all rider...

Yamaha XL800 is a solid platform, I've been riding one of those at my brother in law's place, and they are the same hull as the XL760, I believe. Plenty of 760 parts around if you go that route, and they are cheap, fun 3 seat skis.

VP can openings are smaller.
