I thought it was way too nose light with the 550 engine in it,I weighed it all out , the 650 engine with the stock exhaust and carb is 65.6 lbs, the 550 had a Westcoast exhaust,the Westcoast dual TL,and dual carbs.With all that jazz on it the 550 weighs 69.6 lbs.That weight is with a swiss...

I put three layers of glass on the front of the bulkhead then did three layers on the back.Today I popped the holes in the bulkhead for the bearing housing and bolted it up to the support plate-insert holder. I then glassed in the support plate and mixed up some silica to smooth out some places...

When you are making composite parts it all comes down to the mold,if you don't take the time and build the mold properly then everything that comes out of it looks like crap,I can see maybe cheaping out on a mold that you are going to use only a couple of times hell I have 40 or so of those here...

I put in a 580 one time that sounded worse than the one I pulled out of the ski, when I called and told them that the piston to wall clearance was off and the top end sounded like crap they said run it he has a warranty,if I had built that engine I would of pulled it apart right then and there...

I think there is less work involved modding the 300SX hull and I know I will be at least $1500.00 richer,from what I have seen thus far I think the SX hull will be stronger as well.

You are about to get into more glassing than you can possibly imagine to make this work,getting it to line up is not going to be a cakewalk either,thats where the glassing comes into play at.:dunno:

Yes I would print the above quote out and tape it above your work area because on about the fifth straight day of cutting, grinding and glassing ,when you and your garage are covered in a thick layer of SMC dust you will need that for some inspiration.:woot:
