if prop'd correctly your ski would turn a 148 you would have very strong, "torquey" pull. My motor had so much torque a tall 144 mag pump wouldn't hook up with the tallest prop i tried. I didn't want to spend money in having them make custom props, so I upgraded the pump to run readily...

I can vouch for that, my plastic one blew apart. very nice setup. no lag time. does it stay in posistion when it is down? My biggest complaint with tilt nozzles is when you aren't using it , it flops around back there making the ski feel funny.

try new plugs, it could be that simple. wildman and I torn down a motor once trying to solve a problem and it turned out to be only the plugs.
