Setup wakes take practice. A typical "u" wave works well. You should feel the nose drop down into the wave. Practice makes perfect. Takes a bunch to learn to time and see the wave.
Great advice from a surf rider that's never ridden out of a flat water flip in his life, can't make a proper setup wake, doesn't own a flat water ski, or a motor bigger than 800 cc's.
LMAO.
While Polaris has the water migration patterns figured out, the real magic in this new cylinder is the integration of the transfer port flow and the water migration patterns. When properly engineered to work together, there is a 23% increase in exhaust port flow, 18% increase on the boost port...
Matt,
Technique is very different. I question the pump more than anything, but it takes some umph. Not saying it can't be done, but it's a tough way to learn. One key is staying centered and not leaning back. You want the ski to rotate around you.......if you lean back you pull it down on top...
Haha. He's not even talking about a hop flip.....it was a slide flip that he made past half and nosed in. It was on my ski with 230 lbs of compression, TL, a 148 and one if the hardest hitting 8 mils most have ridden ;). I got a few around but over rotated setup wake flips.
Big difference in...
Setup wake flips are your best bet. Hop flips require considerably more power. I had trouble hop flipping my freak with an 1100, but really didn't have it figured out either. I'm not a great rider, but I can slide, hop, or wake flip my KDX. Same rules still apply. Wake flips are easiest flip...
When the damage is done you find out who your friends really are. I've had a couple different issues with different friends, and in the end my ski is damaged and I'm financially responsible for it. Don't ever think someone will cover it...... Chances are they won't. Best bet is to not let others...
For the record.......
Dasa Ported the cylinder, Erik did the cases, I built the motor and ski, and did all setup and tuning.
Boat runs great but will be better :). This is the same 8 mil that was in my Freak and ripped hard. Wilkey will keep going bigger :). We have zero tuning time on it...
