I'm not thinking you are understanding the cut at 45 degrees thing based on your post.
I am turfing a ski tonight and tomorrow. Can take pics of the rails if it helps.
basically you just place the sharp razor knife up against the bottom edge of the rail and instead of 90 degrees you cut at a...
I have never had one of my turf jobs peel.
Make sure if you painted the ski that you either taped off the rails or sanded them bare.
Hit they with something around a 60 grit on a D/A.
2 coats on the turf and one thick coat on the rails is usually good.
Cut the bottom edge at a 45 degree angle...
Do it.
It's not that hard of a swap and even though the port timing isn't ideal it should smoke the 650.
Or send it to a guy like Chuck at CPT or Powerhouse Performance and have them port it correctly.
I have turfed a couple of skis with the old and the new. The old stuff was horrible but the new stuff is definitely way better. Without a doubt it is still more likely to look beat up over time than solid, but way better than the original two tone.
I have been around that island a few times on mopeds. I usually just take my snorkel gear and stop at a few places along the way. FYI, you can jump mopeds. Oh.....and if you crash them they will shake you down and try to rip you off so get the extra insurance and let er rip!
I have my motor out and just noticed that my mid shaft has play up and down. Is that normal? I don't remember.... The bearings are smooth when I spin it.
Where are you located? I am in GR. Would be happy to take you out if we get any spring surf.
Limiting rope
bilge
Intake grate
prop
Those are all good things. A lot depends on how big you are going to try to go. I destroyed the hull I learned to do rolls on.
