Haha. Most of the testing and tuning for TPE is done by me. Lots of fun, but more of a hobby.......
Eric has an extensive technical background as well, but is not a PE (not am I), but we think a lot alike and work well together.
And Zack, the owner of PHP, is a ME if I recall. Very applicable...
I got involved with semi pro drag racing and pursuing a world championship and decided I too wanted to be hands on and not behind a desk. That's why I stopped at two years. I was working in the mechanical field and doing performance work/tuning/racing as a second job. For now its skis, but...
I'm sure Parrdaddy will chime in eventually, but he works for NASA and loves his job. I have an associates degree in engineering, and teach mechanics for a living. I can tell you that the math and physics is very beneficial, especially in the performance side. It's mostly all relevant, and will...
Like I said, contact via email. They want to be sure your stuff is done right and works well. If you have a reputable builder, they may sell you what you need. :)
Yes and no. If something fails at the water and everyone sees your new engine broken, they don't see your builder, they see a failed TPE engine. First impressions are everything. The reasoning is simply to try and maintain some quality control over a new product. There are some things that need...
Sound is overrated. There is vid of the stock stroke in a chan here:

I've got some of the 10 mil in my KDX I need to download. It may actually have sound lol.
Well my small engine class builds them, but I'm the exception :)
Nice to have Erik from TPE as a guest speaker for the kids too. He knows enough to talk for a few minutes lol.
I have one I drilled out with no issues, but am not sure of its origin. Some of the more economical tools are hardened to a level comparable to a warm stick of butter :)
I had similar experiences, in a mild 701 with a charging system. Any ingested water and you were done (this is when I used to ride surf).
They work, but have limited reserve. Everyone has an opinion. That's why I posted the sheet. I just don't see the need to directly argue someone's opinion...
You guys crack me up. I never said a 9 won't crank your ski. Read the post. Ill refrain from giving my advice as its clear I don't know what i'm talking about, and my skis are beat up and run like chit. :)
Every time someone tries to answer a question on here it turns into a pissing match. I...
I don't suggest ETX-9s for standard applications. The 12 or 14 offers much more power and reserve with a considerable weight savings over stock. The 9 is small and lighter than the 12 or 14 by 1-2 pounds, but only offers 120 amps versus 330 stock. It will work, but in my experience, the 12...
Mostly bottom end gains from the water injection from what I've heard, and the weight savings of no jacket/water. The rrp guys were always big fans of water injection, even with the pfp. They made their own with bling and weight savings to hit where they want it.
To be fair, I haven't tested...
You have to Align shaft first, then install shoe. Pump alignment can be off and it will still easily bolt up to the intermediate housing. You must also verify the bulkhead and shaft are 90 degrees relative to one another. It's common for the bulkheads to be off a bit on a/m hulls. Our last chan...
