I've had a few bad experiences letting others ride my skis. It's all cool until something gets broken, then the rules change. "Must have been broken", "you've pancaked it too", etc. heard em all.
A test ride should be to feel how a hull or motor works.....not to try flips and other aerial...
There's more in it, but I'm not very functional in 36-38 degree water. I'm not comfortable on the hull either. I'm hitting it way too slow for maximum height, but I'm happy just to be testing in this weather.
Been there done that.........3 times at least.
I am going to bring as a display. It's a good example of one of my builds, a clean setup on the TPE SS, and the hull itself. We are not planning on this ski being a demo. I don't own it.
I have tons of springs. They all test different. Finding the closest two is your best bet. Minor tweaks on the arm are ok, but you can only adjust small amounts.
Yes, the ratchet strap is mounted up front to alleviate knee bashing on it.
A 148 would be plenty for a stock stroke, but the customer was on a tight budget and went with the solas. This thing started out as a b piped, stock ign, std. 46 mikuni build lol. We made a few upgrades, so pump money...
Here's some short video of recent testing in 38 degree water. Not my best riding by any means, but trying to get this thing close. Pump (Solas 144) was way too loose on this first outing.
Well said. I've said it many times myself over the past few seasons. It's about fun.....not flat or surf, winning money ( hahaha), or anything but enjoying a great hobby/sport. Can't wait to check out your ski ;)
I have suggested carb options. Prop pitch is subjective, but you've got a ton of motor for a 144 pump. Good luck with that lol. I'd start with a 14/19 hooker or something similar. I ran a 13/18 with a 145 mag and an 8 mil 850, but it never worked as well as it could. It came to life with a 148.
A solas 144 mag is plenty. We are running one with our TPE 964 (on a chan) that makes big power, and it works well.
