I was able to get some more test fitting done… it’s looking pretty good!!!
Some minor clearance issues with the exhaust hose and carb, not a big deal though…
Just take it in steps, do as much as you can and walk away. If you have an area with some meat you need to really grind down, I have had great success with this sander from NT. You can move the belt at any angle to help you reach stuff. Its worth checking out! But defiantly get better belts for...
I also found that a really sharp chisel can be used to cut through the glue when you hold it like a knife. Not plunge cuts, dig a corner of the chisel into the glue, then lightly tap the handle of the chisel and it will butter through that glue. Got my FX-1 mega clean using that method. You can...
Got some test fitting done. Just as I expected, a little interference on the pipe.
No problem, just remove some of that glass!
Remember the tray I cut out? I did some measuring and the pump bolt holes do not align with the new pump. That’s okay, I trimmed them out and will glass them...
I did say galvanic corrosion, but I was also grouping in galling on SS to SS connections. I know galvanic corrosion and galling are 2 different things. My understanding is that on a Stainless bolt threading into Brass insert or Aluminum threads, you should be using a Blue thread locking compound...
The only thing I don’t like about them is the Velcro strap. It comes undone sometimes and really should have been a double Velcro or hook and loop so it couldn’t unstrap. It’s not bad though and you could easily just put a velcro strap around your ankle or something to keep it from opening up...
I typically use a silicone spray on my ski pre and post surf riding, as well as washing it down thoroughly with "Salt-Away". I always store my ski with the hood removed also. Im not the person that rides my chit hard and puts it away wet, im pretty good about maintenance and keep stuff in tip...
Ive been trying to understand and research how galvanic corrosion happens and what I can do to prevent it. I noticed that the stock Superjet inserts are brass, and use stainless steel hardware. Some of the inserts I had to use for my build are 316 Stainless Rotaloc inserts and my question is...
Robert got back to me quickly, the marks are from removing the old ring gear. He assured me that the marks are purely cosmetic and will not effect the fit or function.
I didn't care that it looked weird, I just didn't want it to throw a chunk of metal inside the cover! I was mostly concerned...
The thing is, when I first spoke to Robert at Jetnetics and asked about replacing the ring gear he said to send it over and would have it fixed up in no time. It took over 2 months and was a bit difficult for him to keep contact. I will email him a picture and see what he says.
I recently sent a flywheel back to Jetnetics to have the ring gear replaced because the teeth were pretty worn out. When I finally got the flywheel back, it had some weird marks on it. Maybe it is marks from where it was re-balanced? Is this anything I should be concerned with or just run it...
I would also move that front line back just a bit. The bulkhead sits a bit behind the front of the tray and its a bit thicker than you might think. I almost nipped my bulkhead on the FX-1. Like kevbo said, be careful not to cut through the bottom deck when cutting that rear line! The foam is...
