464 marine grade brass. 1” thick because it was the only size they made with a 1.25” width! That way it will fit right into the slots that are there now. Easy peazy. I might use some of my rotaloc inserts for the ride plate and intake grate because that brass was $$$ o_O
Thanks Riley and or...
Hope this helps, these are out of a 2014 Krash Predator. I haven’t been able to install my engine yet to check alignment, but they have been in there since 2014 so they must be close enough! The one with the wear mark is the port side rear engine mount. (left side, rear)
Im finding that almost every insert thread on this ski is loose if not already stripped... Not sure why these hulls were built with cheap aluminum blocks as "inserts" but these ones have taken a beating. The last thing I ever want to do is cut this tray open again! I did some research and...
I filled the holes for the hood hooks and backed it with some 1208. Figured it wouldn’t hurt.
I much prefer the look of a ski with a bond rail that covers the nose. Too bad Krash doesnt have one… or do they?
Just to give more info, NC is a title state. If you register a vessel coming from out of state that does not title boats, you need the registration card from the previous owner and a notarized bill off sale. They have even asked me for pencil etchings of the vin tag before! Not sure if that will...
You still think just another helicoil is the best replacement? Im not against it, but while im in here I want to make the best and most permanent repair possible!
Does anyone know the difference in thread pitch for an M10x1.25 helicoil vs timesert? I know they both use the same size drill bit...
No, it extended past the threaded aluminum block. Only half of the helicoil was in the block, so a longer bolt wouldn't do anything. But you are right, maybe I can re-helicoil it if I can unwind the old one out of there.
I need some creative ideas! Ive got the tray open on my Krash and im about ready to close it up. The pump "inserts" are just blocks of aluminum and the PO had the front 2 pump holes Helicoiled. These helicoils are only in the top half of the threads, driven in much too far and need to be...
You will need a SJ intake grate and an FX-1 ride plate. You will have to shorten the ride plate to fit on the shoe side, I purchased a composite ride plate instead of cutting the stock one. Widening your rails is another big heap of work, but I think it looks way better!
