Back From the Dead - Yamaha FX-2

Pretty fast, It was gone for maybe 3 weeks. The regular coating (Classic Polish) and basic color top coats are fast turn around times, my Chameleon head pipe on the Superjet took a bit longer because im guessing they had to order that top coat. The coating cost $330 for a B-Pipe + shipping to...

Filled the nose bond line with thickened epoxy and laid 1 layer of 1208 biax on it. The bow eye got a piece of cloth over it that overlaps with the side pieces. This will be where my U bolt will go through. Came out great! Also got my cooling lines and trim tube squished in

It looks pretty good, no cracks or anything. I’m not sure how much these go for… does $60 shipped sound okay?

Pink foam from HD. I still have 2 huge blocks of EPP foam but I never used it because it would be insane to try and cut. I also still have the stock nose foam that I will be putting back in and stuff the engine bay with pool noodles. I like floatation, it makes sense to me.

Holy cow, these rails are solid! Apparently there was a void in between the inner and outer layers of my rails, I sanded down the outer layer because I was adding the reinforcement for the nose. But it exposed some pockets I will need to fill, no big deal because I’m going to turf the rails...

Back From the Dead - Yamaha FX-2

The idea was that because I made my rails wider, and deeper, that new rail is covering part of the nose of the ski that wasn't intended to be covered. I believe with the rail pulled upward and not totally flat, it would then expose more of the nose/rocker of the ski and would not allow the front...

I used the template I made to fill the gap behind the rail. I filled that gap with strips of 1208 and then some thickened epoxy. Laid up several layers of 9oz cloth and she is looking right!

Back From the Dead - Yamaha FX-2

I filled in my bow eye with expanding foam. I used tape on the outside and poured the foam in. Came out real nice! After that I taped the bond seam from the inside with tape so I could lay some glass on the outside. I decided to sand down the keel a bit and then added another strip and...

    Pump shoe, replace? Or OK?

I set a 2x4 on the bridge of the shoe and tapped it out towards the rear with a hammer, hitting the 2x4 not the shoe. But if pieces remain, very carefully use a chisel to get them to separate from the hull. Don't dive it through, but twist the chisel to get the parts to lift. Try not to gouge or...

    Pump shoe, replace? Or OK?

+1 for the Worx shoe. Just like John said, grind on the hull a bit and the shoe and its a perfect fit. When I removed my pump shoe out of my SN, some of the glass came with it. I sanded it smooth and then painted a thin layer of epoxy on it and let it cure. Works great and is totally worth the...
