It wouldnt be hard to install multiple spark plugs if you want to see if more spark is really better. Wide gaps and high energy is necessary for mixtures that are very rich or lean. Our engines run very rich at part throttle below the pipe. Hot ignitions improve this area the most.
Some of our ignition makers are staggering multiple sparks trying to clean up part throttle four cycling.
It doesn't take much spark energy to ignite a "best power" mixture at moderate pressure. Another big problem for us is insulating a hot ignition in salt water.
6m6 have slightly thicker webs than 6r7. the 650 coupler shaft was bored to save weight. 760 cranks have rods that are not machined and have sheetmetal wear ring to save cost.

The bottom screw controls fuel flow at idle. Tune idle mixture well rich of peak rpm on the trailer and it will be perfect on the water. I have had a carb that would idle for about 30 seconds, quit, and need prime to restart. The cause was a missing main circuit check valve. Its that little reed...
They want to maintain the image of current standups. I drew some plans for a 60" hull but couldnt keep the look after I made room for everything. In fact it looked really weird but would be easier to flip.
The Solas stator will prime faster and keep working longer in white water. If all your riding is on glass it wont make much difference. I found that a big hub impeller alone is worth 30% of the total improvement in hookup.
You will need a 1991-1996 manifold. The 40 will need larger jets, start with a 170 main and an 85 pilot with stock popoff. Open the top screw 2 turns and lean for best acceleration.
If your current setup is best once the ski is moving, it is a little over loaded. First bore the nozzle, then take a hammer to the trailing edges and raise them 3/16". It will pull as well as anything you can buy.
