    How important is foam density?

Two part urethane foam wont melt when gasoline gets on it. Pour it in thin layers, this will keep it from bulging the hull and help decrease water absorption. Anything behind the bulkhead should never get wet since you can seal the compartment. You can make a small bilge area in the bottom of...

    Piston wash help

Actually tuning a leaf blower is very similar to a jet ski. It’s nearly impossible to hurt an engine that’s set rich of peak power. A piston that is fitted with less clearance may run forever with a cooler main jet and then seize the first time combustion temps rise. Always start too rich and...

Have you or have you thought about making your own Hull?

Old skis that run are usually a bad deal economically since they were almost always poorly maintained. NOBODY will ever maintain anything they have lost interest in. I separate the hull from everything thats inside it. That way its easy to become an expert on keeping all the parts in good...

    Piston wash help

Head bolt threads can be easy to strip but they are also easy to repair. Sometimes you can just use a longer bolt and pick up enough fresh threads. It is difficult to get a lot of useful information from the goo on top of pistons. You can get better and faster information with a tachometer.

Have you or have you thought about making your own Hull?

It all started with people cutting off the rear of a Superjet until it was short enough to flip easily.

Have you or have you thought about making your own Hull?

It takes a lot of man hours to develop the hull shape that you want. On watercraft very small changes to the bottom shape will make huge differences in the way it handles so you have to get it right through testing. Many builders just modify and copy existing hulls. Either way once you have the...

    Superjet Noob

Exactly. Nose up and unplaned is a completely different mode of riding than going 15+MPH. As I have said before, a short hull cant race and an SXR1500 cant flip. Freeride hulls are somewhere in between.

    Kawasaki 650sx and impellers

The 750ss/xi driveshaft will fit 650sx hulls. Its an easy way to adapt 750 impellers with minimal cutting.

    Superjet Noob

Its rider size and how much hull area behind the center of gravity that determines how difficult it will be to get planed. Little guys can ride anything, big guys will need either more aft area or be able to crawl farther up on the ski in order to ride away. Often a little negative trim makes...

    Superjet Noob

The problem with aftermarket hulls are that they start a little shorter and end up a lot shorter. There should be more discussion about this but it will never happen. About the best way to judge the balance point is by assuming it has a Superjet driveshaft and seeing how far the pump sticks...

    Superjet Noob

Superjets are too long for a backflip but they can do rolls. Everyone caved in the right side of their hulls trying to do it. I made some full length slots for mine and they made the ski much more comfortable to ride. Many local riders were molding and installing foam wedges inside the...

    Superjet Noob

That is what a company with overhead would need to get in order to stay in business. This is a hands on hobby so most guys like to do it themselves.

850 group K Hammer kit vs 850 Big bore Blowsion ?

I have ridden a Group k 850, it ran fine and was reliable. I would use the larger sleeves with a smaller 85mm bore if it was installed in a Superjet or any other longer hull that got a lot of full throttle runs.

    Superjet Top End Help

A pair of 44s will make very close to full rpm at 5/8 open throttle. A pair of 38 need to be open a little more but will do mostly the same thing. Large carbs will make the pipe hit harder at low speeds but thats about all.

    Riva Waterbox?

A lot of those A/M boxes have the outlet tube further from the bottom than stock. They may flow better when dry but they never suck all the water out.

When you see it and you already know

These are the same guys that sink their skis and let them sit full of water. The sport needs the faces and their $$$ even if the quality is low.
