Full carbon, is it the right path?

The Japanese can do a lot with their fiberglass boats. Flat water requires getting the most altitude possible from a small or nonexistent wave . Any weight reduction is an advantage as well as any gain in thrust. Less weight and more power will at least provide more cushion if your setup isn't...

    Sitdown 62T in Superjet tuning

Using a higher port cylinder with the stock superjet pipe doesnt help your situation. You need to get the RPM up for the engine to work well. A freestyle pitched impeller is usually required. try to get 67000-6800 rpm. At that point adding a pipe will get over 7000 RPM.

    Sn 650 vs 701 value

The only people I know that struggle with time are multi millionaires. This is a money and time pit hobby, all I need is a good ski. If you want that, it’s best to buy a new OEM crankshaft and surround it with the best parts you can find. That’s how old guys tend to see a boat. Kids only see the...

    Sn 650 vs 701 value

Kids want everything right now so they are running up the price of junk. Almost all of these old skis have had several really bad owners. By the time they develop the maturity to know this they will be long out of the hobby.

    Sn 650 vs 701 value

Go for the 94 provided its in better condition. The 90-92 also needed the newer nozzle/bildge siphon. 93s had a better nozzle, all 650s need a 701 cylinder and raised rev limit. They all need an impeller pitched for at least 6700rpm with the stock porting/ pipe.

    Sn 650 vs 701 value

These skis are very old now and they very likely were not well maintained. Condition is the most important consideration. Many of these skis have been improperly stored or left sitting full of water at some point so consider them all junk. Old skis are just a bucket of parts. When new the 650s...

    B Pipe

You can change the pipes operating rpm range slightly by where the cooling water is introduced. Closer to the engine lowers the rpm.

    carb setting 61x

A 170 could be oversized, maybe. I had a high port 701 that was still over 1 turn out with a 170 main. Whats most important is that you can find peak rpm before the top adjuster is completely closed. Its not difficult but will take a few tries. Thats IF you know how the engine sounds and...

Why a Heavy Flywheel Yields More Top Speed

I know that a more solidly mounted engine block will make slightly more power than one that is loosely mounted. Flywheel weights effect on engine power is less conclusive. On a PWC it is possible that greater power stroke acceleration could increase impeller cavitation which would hurt top...

    How important is foam density?

Well, I don't want that ski! A little math is a lot easier than getting all the water out of a sunk ski.

    How important is foam density?

As I remember from my days as a lab tech, our glass panels were just under 2.5 and carbon was just under 1.8.

    How important is foam density?

Consider the skis specific gravity, that is what it weighs underwater. An entire ski will be around 3. That will require a little under 2 cubic feet of foam to make a hull float. Density of the foam comes into play when its used structurally. For floatation lighter is better.

If you are not worried about looking cool, make a custom jacket that can be easily zipped over the pole. A good upholster may be able to make it stylish.

SXR with a dry pipe fuel starving on the top end

Make sure there is enough flow from the tank to the carb. Then make sure the tank vents properly. Oversized carbs use restrictors for tuning part throttle mixture. Stock carbs have one built in the carb.

how young is too young? 440 interest

Kids are idiots, although I have never met a parent that think theirs are! I doubt that a kid will hurt themselves on a 440 but they can easily kill a bystander with one. Think that one through and you'll be okay.

    How important is foam density?

I was referring to the care and maintenance of the machine. None of that is in a riders DNA.
