550sx to 750 "All or Nothing" build

I hung the 550 like a side of beef today. Filled in the bondline at the nose and reinforced it with 17oz biax.

550sx to 750 "All or Nothing" build

Sort of a big step today. Front sponsons are mounted! She's a fat bottom girl now! I'll leave the screws in place until the adhesive cures completely. Then I'll blend them seamlessly into the hull. Also mixed up some cabosil thickened epoxy and filled in the bonding lines on the sides.

This is why I like the biax for added strength. It remains strong placed in any direction, unlike regular woven cloth.

Uummmm......you're thinking of concrete man.....and that's only an INSIDE 90 lol!! For reinforcement purposes, cut it any way you want. Building from scratch, don't end or meet on a corner, you'll cause a weak spot....always overlap.

    Serious grit sandpaper

I just recently tried the Diablo Sandnet on this latest project. I've got to say, I'm pretty impressed with this stuff so far.

Once I get the inside of the battery tray level, I'll drill a couple holes. Around the mount areas, I want that brought up and smoothed flat.

Well, I got NOTHING done yesterday. Sunday, 6pm, fine but sneezing every now and then. 7:30, sniffling a bit along with the sneezing. DAMN! What did my wife spray in the air that maybe I'm allergic to? I have severe grass and pollen allergies anyway. 9:45 pm........FULL BLOWN HEAD COLD! Man...

550sx to 750 "All or Nothing" build

I made some templates, cut some foam, and laid a bit of 17oz biax today. The plan is to build up around the motor mounts as they all had stress cracks. Also reinforce the bilge bottom, and then start the sides.

750sx hesitation while starting, help appreciated

Sounds like a weak starter OR too much timing advance. You can check advance by bringing front piston to TDC and marking the pto coupler with a sharpie.....relative to the cover bolt hole or something....mark it "0". Then do the rear piston the same.....mark it "180". Then use 2 equal length...

I guess I'm lucky, most of my customers are nice, thankful folks, just trying to have fun on the water. I don't do anything on a customer ski that I wouldn't do to my own.

Of course........I keep it in stock, that Awesome cleaner is.......well.......AWESOME! For general parts cleaning/degreasing mix one part Awesome, one part ZEP degreaser, and 2 part water. Works better than anything I've ever used. DO NOT spray it directly on any decals, it sometimes will run or...

550sx to 750 "All or Nothing" build

I measured out and fit the front sponsons (tubbies) yesterday. The instructions tell you to start screwing them down in the center and work out. I think that's a TERRIBLE idea! That IS NOT the answer to mediocre quality parts. I cut some scrap wood blocks to position these, and used ratchet...
